Hi Guys,

I'm looking for something that will re-connect my parellel port to a zip drive without having to re-boot the PC. I've had a look on

Question

Is your problem that if you want to put the ZIP drive back on the PC after Windows has loaded, it won't recognise the drive without a reboot?

Cheers,

ChrisB.

Not sure this will work, but it does with most devices...
Go to the device manager, select the device and then click properties.
Disable the device and apply change, then re-enable it. Give it a go and post the results....
Cheers
KF.

ChrisB,

Yes, that's it exactly...

KF,

It's not listed anywhere in the device list under System.

Surely it can not be that hard...? After all, when you install the backup software it connects to the drive straight away without re-booting first.

Cool

Try doing a refresh in device manager. This runs the same process as detection on startup. I think if the drivers have been previously installed it wont make you reboot

OK Guys, Sorted!!!

The device was hidden originally so I used View > Show hidden devices.

Then, selected the Iomega Parellel port device, selected [disable] (it then said I needed to reboot my PC , but then selected [enable] and hey presto, zip drive is there!!

Thanks for your help..
