We have the HP 970CXi deskjet in the office, pretty cheap and does double sided too.

We thrash it here, and it's been very reliable - is now about 1 year old. Uses cartridges at a reasonable rate. No paper handling problems, even double sided.

Just my 2p's worth - I used to work for HP but not anymore so I don't care if you don't buy an HP printer anymore :-)

Simon.

Sharp AJ6010. £199 I think. Seperate ink tanks latest machine in their range, out does the competition in photo mode. Whose name resembles an old style artillery piece.

Dabs.com have a lexmark Z52 at £65 plus VAT, normally about £120(inc)

depends what your after really

Ive looked at lots of "best buy" printers, and there are often a matter of opinion (IMHO)

I agree with greg, but I know **** all about printers.

We have a sylus 750, and that is very capable. 780 is surely better!

I have been looking at this very thing - 'Which' recommended the Canon s800 for photos but it costs £330 in Dixons. Next best seemed to be the HP P1000 which can also print directly from a smartmedia/camedia etc card with out a pc if needed. Also is as fast as the 970 for text etc. Can get online for £184 at various places.
If need cheaper then Epson 790 is what our IT guys recommend as it's only £120 and gives pretty good results.
Personally I think the hp's are better at Photos though.

Feedback from our customers is that the Stylus 790 is the daddy giving better print quality than the equivalent HP or Lexmark.

Got an HP950 - absolutely excellent , for the equivalent money I've not come across a printer to rival the HP. My dad also just bought the 930 (90 quid), same photo quality just slightly slower.

Don't work for HP just well happy blah blah blah.......
