Death by Police Car up 178% in last 4 years

Thing that annoys me about this, is that when the police are criticsed about their accident rate, they respond with that they need better training.
Why not apply that to every motorist, not just police drivers?

ca,
hear hear!
I wonder whether the "black box" will be enforced for Police (and other "public service" personnel?). After all, we already have the Grey box (on a pole)!

How many lives and serious injuries have been stopped because the great British public know that in an emergency the police will get there as quickly as possible? Make the police drive milk floats and see what happens.....

CLS,
i am sure that none of us have a problem with the Police arriving at an incident as soon as possible. The issue is that they seem to be crashing rather a lot in the process!
Driver training in the Police force seems to have been cut back massively - hence the depressing statistics.
Hey, maybe proper training will reduce this carnage - and perhaps it should be tried on Joe Public!!!!

I hope they spend some of the money they are going to get from the speed cameras on police driver training! Perhaps driver training full stop!
I wonder if an increase in cameras will mean an decrease in police related accidents!

CLS I'm sure that Paramedics and Firefighters don't have as high a rate of Fatal accidents as the Police seem to be having.
Could it possibly be down to the type of person doing the job?
