Or drive a couple of minutes further up the road and stay at the Ballachulish Hotel www.freedomglen.co.uk
Stayed there many times, owned by the same guys as the Isle of Glencoe, but more upmarket. Also, you have free access to the gym etc at the Isle of Glencoe.
The food in the restaraunt is fantastic, some of the best that we had in our 18 months in Scotland. Make sure you spend some time huddled in front of the fire with a wee dram while the hotel cat curls up in your lap. Pure heaven.
Andrew (wishing he was back in Scotland ).

Flodigarry Hotel on Skye.
As you drive towards Skye prepare to be shocked by the stunning views!
Or for total peace try the Moor of Rannoch Hotel - very remote and not that far from Edinburgh - about 2-3 hours in a decent car - and what a drive if you go cross country!

LeeMac - depends on what you want to see and do.
Lots of shopping/nightlife etc, then head for something in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Lots of scenery, peace and quiet, fresh air, long walks etc, then head up the West Coast.
The Isle of Glencoe is great value for money, and is a family orientated hotel. Very relaxed, and good food. Also stayed at the Ballachulish just a mile or two up the road. A bit more "formal", and the food is of the same standard as that at the Isles. Lots to see and do within a few hours drive either way. (e.g. Skye, Oban, Inverness etc.)
A bit further north, and more isolated, is the Loch Torridon hotel. Can highly recommend the coast road to Gairloach, preferably after driving to Applecross and around the Peninsula.
There are some cracking beaches even further north on the north west coast. Mostly single track roads though to get there.
If driving in the Scoob, remember that fuel costs in the far north are ludicrously expensive, and they've never heard of Super! Ullapool is the furthest north you'll find Super at about 90p per litre, though it is possible to fill there, and go all the way around the coast to Inverness again without needing more fuel.
Andrew - nice to see you still frequent this place from time to time What are you driving these days ?
