Unhappy

I am convinced this is a mobo problem, so I've ordered another (Soltek SL75KAV with AMD 1gb Tbird) and will return this one, however any of you got any suggestions rather than "flash the bios". Why should I have to?

Symptoms:

All fires up, one bleep, Award Bios banner screen, POST, PCI device listing, that's it.

BUT, if I randomly press tab, I get the dmi chek etc, and I have even managed to get windows98 installed, but the reset may or may not, and power off and on is random as above.

I got so far as installing modem s/w and dial up, but it dials up then hangs.

I don't think it's worth perservering with, cos it's not going to get any better eh?

Your thoughts gents.

This happens to a lot of people, not seen a convincing answer yet.

I guess your using AGP, this can be a problem with some.

Overclocking exagerates the problem.

A little extra voltage can help to the memory and buses if you have that option available, like just one notch up on each.

Would also suggest removing and re-installing all components, maybe something has a slightly dubious connection.

Sort of a mobo problem.

I tried upping voltages, different sdram etc. No good.

I have only one PCI card installed so I moved it to a different slot and guess what......

All works OK, if I'd chosen any of the other four slots rather than the one I did, no problem.

This is progress?????
