We are moving to a 2 bed house soon. When we decide to have another child we will need to add another bedroom. We can't extend as there is no room to, so, anyone got any idea of the price of a Loft Converion and how long it usually takes?!

Expensive and lots of time. It can be more expensive than extending the house...
Strictly speaking, you need to look at all sorts of things, such as strengthening the joists that'll support a floor, how you're going to provide permanent access, fire escapes, ...
If you add a velux window, you're ok. Add a dormer and you may need planning permission. YOu might find you need planning permission anyhow, as if you increase the livable area of your house by over a percentage then you need it.
Best advice would be to speak to a builder and architect, have some plans drawn up and find out more about regulations. The architect will deal with this for you.
It won't be cheap.
I'm considering a DIY approach, but as of yet have to finish off the bathroom. Only a few bits left now
Cheers,
Nick.

Hope you aren't having the same trouble with your bathroom as we're having with ours???? ..... ours has now been christened the Bathroom from Hell... smallest room in the house.... costs enormous and has taken so far 2months of continual work and we're still not finished it... and my hubby is very good at DIY now the new toilet leaks in three places....eeekkkkk..
Getting back to the plot... my suggestion for your loft conversion is get a good builder in to do it (shop around prices vary enormously) when we did ours we had quotes from £10 - £30k
Get your plans drawn up properly and make sure you get your planning permissions.... but you could get away with it if you don't actually change the structure of the house... but should have it if you add lever arch windows...by the way if you do don't skimp on the windows - lever arch are the best, albeit a bit costly but worth the money.
