Sony drops British PlayStation 2 price
Despite assurances from Sony before E3 that PlayStation 2 would remain at £299 until Christmas, there’s no smoke without fire…
In a bid to bring the retail cost of PlayStation 2 into line with the rest of Europe, SCEE has cut the price of the machine in the UK to £269. Sony reps are playing the move down as a price drop

269. Still too much.
With the Xbox and Gamecube coming in much lower then the new price shoulda been 230 ish or even 199.
I wonder what those people who got a PS2 for 800 quid in December are thinking now?

Can you buy the XBox or GameCube yet? The PS2 has to be the top console at present with little true competition. When the XB and / or GC launch, I expect Sony will cut the price then, but otherwise no point in cutting your margins if you don't have to?
