GPL this week - Osring
I didn't realise which one this is... it's an AWESOME circuit...
had a quick go just now and did a 1:46.58, but ran wide onto the grass on the last left hander so it won't count...
but I reckon low 45's are doable (god knows how though!
)
Cheers
Simon
PS. we MUST have a race on this one.

woohoo.. this track is fabulous!!
Just did a 1:45.00 in the lotus, but it was a bit ragged.
i really don't think I can be quick here without cooking my tyres though, so I would probably suck in a race.
Would be good fun though.
Cheers

Just ran my first F1 laps here - best so far of a 1.46.22 in the Ferrari. Pretty messy lap, so hopefully some room for improvement.
I've just changed my steering setup to be fully linear with the [Hack] ratio (that gives you variable steering ratios below 60mph) in the core.ini diasbled (set to 0). I cannot believe what a difference it makes! The steering is now so much better - much easier to set just the right amount of steering lock, especially when correcting/holding oversteer.
I'll hopefully get some more laps later in the week. I'm around from Thursday if you guys fancy a race?
Cheers,
Christian

If you've got GPL patched to v1.2 there's a [hack] section in your core.ini, just change steering ratio from 1 to 0. This will stop the steering ration changing below 60mph
You can then set-up the steering ratio however you like in the car-setup screen...perhaps 3:1 would suit you sir?
Anyone got any advice on setting up FF with an MS wheel - the core.ini settings seem a*se-about-face. I thought I'd turned forces down a bit, but am now using this as a work-out instead of lifting weights...a lap of the 'ring kills my forearms!
Downloading Osring now.

Simon,
Dowser is spot on - if you have GPL v1.1.03 or above there is a setting in the core.ini file under the [Hack] section where you can disable this - look for steer_ratio and set it to 0. BTW, I got this info from Ricardo Nunnini's excellent

Dowser,
With regard to the FF settings - I use a Logitech FF GP, which I understand to be pretty similar to the MS wheel.
My settings are:
force_feedback_damping = 2
force_feedback_latency = 0.125
max_steering_torque = 225
Don't know if this will help, as I think FF settings are pretty individual. I don't like too much FF, so my settings are tailored to this.
You should also check your settings in Control Panel - there is quite a complex reaction between these values and the core.ini, which I do not fully understand. However, my settings are FF strength at 75%, damping at 25% and centre springing disabled.
By the way a couple of different settings for MSFF, Logitech FF and
the Guillemot Ferrari FF can be found at

Sorry I've been a bit quiet....
Had a league race at Snetterton 67 which was also a new track for me, didn't get time to do more than 5 laps at Osring just to check installation
Any chance of keeping this open for a 2nd week so we can all give this one a real go?

Hi chaps,
I'm up for extending this by a week too, as I haven't really had chance to do any more running here since my first efforts...
I for one would be interested to see your replay, Simon. Will try and post my rubbish efforts over the next couple of days
How about a race immediately after the GP on Sunday, like last time?
Cheers,
Christian

I'm up for a race after the TV coverage finishes on Sunday. I will install Osring on my GPL server and ensure its working. Puts the pressure on to practice a bit as well
I hope some more of you will be able to make it this time!

Hi chaps..
it turned out I had actually done a 144.84 which I hadn't mentioned for some reason (it might be that it is not valid, but I've uploaded it anyway)...
so here is the 145:00 (just in-case)

Oh dear, seems my lack of practice is costing me here
Best is a low 1:48 but I will practice again tomorrow (Sat)
As for Sunday, its the Indy 500 as well as the GP so racing between the two will have to be short and sweet. I don't have Sky so have bullied a friend into letting me watch it at his place. Still we will have an hour if everyone turns up straight after the ITV coverage.
