Learning PHP / MySQL
#1
Can anyone recommend me any web sites to learn about PHP and MySQL, specifically examples of SQL select calls using PHP into MYSQL, and formatting the output as dates, counts etc.

Already done the Access bit, and running into 'known issues' with dbases over 1MB, so looking into alternates.
Lee - I've looked at both web sites, they seem to have a ton of info, but not many real world examples interfacing to mysql, that's the bit I'm after!

Greg,
Don't know if Lee would agree with me, but before you start on MySQL & PHP, you may opt for a slightly easier entry into database-driven websites with a combination of:
-ASP
-MS ACCESS
Advantages are that web hosting is cheap, its Win32 so you can get a developement environment running really quickly with Win9x, Personal Web Server / IIS and a copy of MS Access 97.
Access also offers a straight forward interface to get some simple databases up and running within minutes, compared to MySQL which is really powerful, but not as straightforward to get up and running quickly.
I'm using MySQL now, but the experience I learned with Access and ASP has helped tremendously.
Just a thought.
