As some of you will know your beloved moderator for NSR (heh...heh..) is loosing his scoob due to a change of jobs (own choice)

Anyways, just got details of new car scheme today, and its not bad (but I can't contribute to allowance)

For £300 a month gross, I could get, amongst others a 1.7 Puma Black.

Others of interest are

206GTI
VW Golf GTI (115bhp)
Saxo VTS
Audi A2
Polo GTI

Read a lot of good things about the puma, (and it has Air, leather and CD) which sounds good as I will be spending more time in it than I was in the Scoob.

Any thoughts and opinions welcome

I had one before I got the Scoob. Sold it to my girlfriend.

I personally think it is a top car, excellent handling, quite nippy and comfortable. Only gripe with it was the level of service from Ford. Compared to the level of service I have had from Subaru they were rather pants

Best thing you could do is nip down to a dealer, say you are interested, test drive one and then see what you think.

I'd have one again....if it had a turbo

Ford Puma 1.7 is Bloody good!
My other half has one and it is a cracking drive - Brilliant chassis for a FWD car - splendid engine, revvy, good torque - believe the engine was developed by Yamaha and has a form of variable valve timing.
Brakes - great
Interior - plastic/ally but well screwed together (for a Ford) and a nice bit of design to it

I think that is a brilliant car for the money.
Jennys Puma has done 26K so far - no problems at all - she does 80 miles travelling p/d to work and back - mostly a/b roads and dual carriageways and it is happy at any speed.

If i find it parked behind the Scoob on the drive in the evening i am more than happy to take the Puma (no, it is no scoob beateer but for £ 14K it is a hell of a lot of motor)

We looked at 2nd hand MR2's, MX 5's Golf GTI's, all the usual suspects and knew as soon as we drove the Puma it was the one.

Dark muppet, Could take cash and buy Scoob/Clio on pcp or pch, but looking for something which effectively won't cost me very much. With new tax on emissions next year, Puma works out as a very, very cheap car.

Plans for this year include getting bike licence and buying something fun, you see

I see the 206 GTI is on your list Diablo.

At the end of June, my 206 GTI goes back to the lease company. It's a year lease with a 10,000 mile limit (although I've just gone through 10k today).

The spec' is very good. Mine was a MY00 car : digital climate control, CD / Radio, 15" Alloys, Leather / Alcantara / Zagros Cloth Trim and metalic paint.

The new MY01 have 16" alloys, 6 CD Changer, alloy fuel cap (oooo!) and different seats.

I've been very happy with it. It's been to the dealer once for the 6000 mile inspection (first service is 20k miles). I had an oil change at 6k at my expense, as it gets a damn good canning. Total service costs for this year have been £65. Will need some new front rubber in a couple of thousand miles though.

I've got a Excel spreadsheet with fuel figures in at home if you want to know MPG etc. I've had it below 20MPG at times!

Fairly low discrete as well (mine is dark Green) - no problems with scum vandalising or trying to nick it.
