I'm about to embark on getting a digital video with still picture facility (1.1 megapixel).....Question: Have got a Lexmark 3200 colour printer with 720x720 dpi (1400x720 is possible - I think ....).....Will this do digital images justice or do you guys advise a better printer - and if so what ??

Dunno about the Lexmark, but if you do change the Epsons are reckoned to be the best photo repro stuff around on the High Street...

 

I bought a Hewlett Packard 950c a couple of weeks ago, about £170-00. The photo quality on photo paper is nothing but superb. Infact, my mate has scooby piccies up in his pub that were printed onto A4 photo paper on my printer.

I've had several and am happiest with the HP 990cxi I bought a few months back - it actually does what it's supposed to - 16-18ppm in black/draft, superb photo quality (I'm still on my first cartridges too) and paid less than 200 ex vat.

 

HP do inkjets which are just as good as the Epsons - but you always pay more for them.

For home use, Epson, without a doubt.

 

I recently got an Epson Stylus Photo 890 for £165. It has 2880DPI and prints amazing photo quality pictures on normal A4. It is even better on photographic paper. I'd recommend it wholeheartedly.

 

Epson are definitely the brand to go for.

Look at the Epson Photo Stylus 870, has 6 colours, which apparently makes a difference!

I've got the HP DeskJet 970CXi (not bad for £99 ey?).

Important thing to remember though is for photo quality prints you need the special coated paper. 80 G/M copier paper doesn't hack it for any sort of decent quality. My standard paper is the HP Brilliant White Inkjet 90 G/M which gives good results for letters and the like.

Get an epson, ive had a A3photo for years and ive used cheap ink (black and colour for a about a fiver) and the quality on mine is pretty good so the new ones will be better, the Hewlett ink are expensive but they're fast.

PCWorld were selling these for <B>£60</B> last time I looked - internet only offer. Normal price is around £90. If you can't get it for £60,
