Setting up a company
#1
Advice needed on setting up a company who should I see a lawyer or an accountant? How much does it cost and how long does it take.
Is it easier to aquire a previously registered company or start fresh with a new one.
any advice would be appreciated.

start a new one mate costs a 100.00 quid or less and make sure its ltd if things dont work out u will get screwed if u are a sole trader, u dont need a lawyer, open a back account for business and startup what u need, then after your up and running thats when a accountant is needed and a lawyer only if u need legal probs , thats all mate, pay your tax in time to the inland revenue and if i make over 47000 a yr i think then u need to get vat registered otherwise no need to bother
split the wage u take between u and your partner so that way u save money on tax everyweek u know

lol i mean put yourself through as part timers u know so that way u dont pay too much
theirs alot of ways but u can speak to a good accountant and he will tell u the way round these things
through being a director coz u work from home u can claim money from your own business for telephone bills and even council tax if u wish, your clothes, petrol parts for the car etc tuning items if they check they can hammer u for those

Done a few myself Should cost £40-60 and all the co's have use have been fine (can't remember off the top of my head any of the names).
As to whether to go off the shelf depends what you are looking for... Off the shelf should give you a company pretty much immediately, whereas choosing your own name etc can take a couple of weeks! Of course you can by a co off the shelf and change the name to what you want later too.
But pick up Exchange & Mart and look in the 'Company Formations Section' - If your buying an 'off the shelf' company make sure it hasn't traded (don't want to end up with someone elses tax bill!)
Generally its not worth going for more than the basic packages - no point paying for 'bank introductions' or other pointless frills that you can probably do better yourself.
As for Lawyer - no point and accountants will charge £200+ for company formations usually - however for Tax returns etc you'll need to find a good accountant - usually best finding one that specialising in what you are doing as they will know what is more tax efficient!
Good luck with the co...

You can do it almost entirely yourself online, check out uk-plc.net. It says UK company formation is £42.50 from there. Very straightforward to do on line, as my bro did it a while back.
