Question

Hi!

I might need a second car soon. I was thinking about a E34 525/530/535/540 BMW estate and then maybe having it converted to be dual fuel, i.e. petrol and LPG.

Prices of the large engined BMW's seem to tbe on the floor these days.

Anyone been there, done that? Or can offer any other pearls of wisdom?

Thanks,

C

A mate of mine has done exactly this to an old 535i, he says it runs fine, hardly any noticeable loss in power and he gets the equivalent cost per mile of about 50mpg!!

He does the conversions himself with a couple of partners...it may be worth emailing him with any questions..??

My neighbour runs a K reg 5 series estate on LPG. Cost him around £1000 to have it done. Tops it up from his central heating tank

Came back on Mon & smelt a sickly smell I couldn't place. Tues evening my wife tells me that the neighbour had had a "small explosion" under the bonnet

Obviously not too serious as he's having it sorted out & the car will be back soon...

He seems to be happy with it generally & he's not known for his light foot...

Not much of a help but a coinciental anecdote
