Electoral Roll Online?

carl- is that in addition to the screening offered by MPS and TPS? i know ppl on MPS still show on 192.com which is why you have to screen their list against the MPS list if mailing with it.
are you saying you can choose not to even apear on their list?

You should have recently (back end of last year) got an electoral registration form -- or do different bits of the country get them at different times?
The last one I had mentioned the 'public' and the 'private' electoral rolls, so I ticked the boxes to be excluded from the public one.
If you get junk mail addressed to <Forename><Middle Initial><Surname> it's a dead ringer they've trawled the Electoral Roll for it.
Edit: last time I searched 192.com it was an old electoral register anyway. Obviously they'll have to update it or it will become useless, and when they use the new one it won't contain those people who've elected not to have their details made public.

hmmm, interesting. at present anyone who is on the MPS list still shows on 192 (and will continue to) if anyone uses the 192 list for mailing but doesnt screen the list against the MPS list then you get BIG fines. bearing this in mind i would assume the public/private thing is more about data privacy in general than mailing as MPS already takes care of it.

Interesting thread this,
The other day we got yet more mail through (McDonalds/Burger King please note the correct spelling, this isn't America yet)....sorry... for the previous owners of our house, they moved out over two years ago without leaving a forwarding address and mostly it's just junk mail that we now return to sender.
Anyway one letter was marked 'not a circular' from Debenhams so we opened it and it turned out to be a store card bill for over £500 but it was addressed to the daughter of the house who was approx. 15 when they moved out, it's the first bill we've received so must be a new or recent card.
To summarise:
Someone who is potentially still under age has obtained a credit card fraudulently.
She's using our address for her credit card account.
Anyone got any suggestions as to WTF to do without giving our address a crappy credit rating????
I've tried to look at the electoral roll at the local town hall/library but apparently you can't do that anymore.
HELP!!!!!
Dave

Dave,
Unless the daughter has the same surname as you, it won't be a problem. Credit searches can only include all people with the surname for a given address.
However, if you do nothing, you risk having visits from bailiffs. As you don't have the forwarding address for the previous owers, I would send the bill (having made a photocopy first) back to Debenhams saying that these people no longer live here anymore and you have no forwarding address. Furthermore, point out that the card is in the name of a 17 year old.

Good idea Tiggs, cheers for that.
Jerome, balifs etc knocing on the door is exactly what worries me.
I thing a bit more digging is required, if that doesn't work I might have to have a quiet word with a friendly tame copper.
Also just found the mother on Friends Reunited so could always just send her an e-mail but I'm a bit suspicious as to why they were so cagey about their forwarding address in the first place.

If you need to find them They are up German Road go up to the roundabout at the end in front of the Ta Camp turn right then they are just up on the left hand side past the camp you will see a gate at an angle to the road they are in there.
The Chap you need to ask for is Les he has a Escort Van with Pressure Clean on the side.
