#1
Need advise
A freind sold her car and for one reason or another
She excepted a cheque and handed keys over etc
(yes I know you shouldnt do it)
She got a letter Saturday from her bank cheque has bounced
The address left by the buyer was false
She phoned police not intrested
Solicitors are not helpfull either or want loads £££££
What options are left if any ?????
Thanks Nick

Bad mistake. Basiclly she's fcuked.
Try reporting it stolen. In essense it is as she had a contract with the buyer and he/she has broken it.
However if the address is false then I feel that her car has bee stripped or ringed by now.
A very expensive mistake.

As above really, check to see if the DVLA has had the car registered with a different owner now. Probably hasn't but worth checking anyway. Also hound the police until they do something, if you push them hard enough they will, if you take their first answer they will glady avoid the paperwork etc.

She should have the name of the 'buyer' on the cheque. Give the name to the police and tell them the car has been stolen. They shouldn't have too much trouble tracking him down. If the cheque is not in his name then the guy is probably guilty of fraud as well. Tell her to remind the police of that when she speaks to them again. I assume she's checked the phone books for the name on the cheque too??

contact the police again and report a " DECEPTION ". The car will then be reported stolen as a matter of course and when he gets stopped in it he`ll be arrested etc etc. Even if he gets away without conviction , you should get your car back fingers crossed.
