I personally find it irritating and tedious to use, but it's an ingenious bit of kit... the jog dial type control gets used for so many different things that it's hard to remember what. Also, like a lot of newer phones, it has needless animations that slow things down a lot.

Having seen all current and near future phones, I still reckon the best ones are the Nokia 7110, Ericsson R380 and R320 - they're easy to use, intuitive, and do everything they say on the box. Also, the WAP support is reasonably good, as is network support of the phones (although Vodafone repeatedly deny supporting the R380 - they'll sell you one, but Vodafone retail and Vodafone network are two separate entities).

In defence of the Sony, I don't use it all the time (I use a 7110) so the controls may become easier to remember if I was to have it as my primary phone. It is a very small WAP phone though, and doesn't have much competition if that's what you want. It also has POP3 capability which is neat.

Interesting....

I pick up a CMD Z5 in a couple of days.

How does the J5 differ?

If you want a Scoobynet style forum to try, have a look

Well.

I got the eMail and HTTP working, the username and password of the ISP were case sensative and I had Dave (Which was wrong).

I like the phone so far, key nice things being.
Small and Light
looks sexy (sad)
Very large Hi-Rez display
Good menu using nice graphics
The Text input is especially good
Lots of Caller groups, even a pre programmed Drinking group with Beer ICON!!!!!
The SMTP eMaal Works!!!!!

On the downside
It takes about 50 Seconds to connect to my SMTP email.
The HTTP browser is next to useless coz the sites dont fit well.
Its got no Infrared.

Having used Nokia for the last 5 years I got used to the interface OK, the Jog dial is nice BUT you have to use the phone by holding it in your left hand and typing with the right. The 7110 was easier top use in either hand.

For £29.00 its a lot of phone, but as will all mobiles the toy factor soon wares of and you are left with...... a phone...

I got if from Carphone warehouse online who delivered exactly as they said they would so try em....
