Got the little *(^*(&*&!!
After no luck with the outside traps I decided there was no choice but to cut a hole in the wall. My dad had the bright idea of removing the bath so we wouldn't have to re-tile.
We started to dismantle the bath surround, only to find they'd already chewed through the wall into the space under the bath. What's the first thing I see? A peanut husk. That'll be one of the ones I put out as bait...
Reassembled everything leaving just enough space for the trap, baited it and covered it.. 7-15 yesterday morning - kerching! Reset the trap and 15 minutes later - kerching 2!
Now all I have to do is reassemble and retile the bath surround - but silence is golden.
P.S. No sign of ultrasonic scarers in Argos - shame - great idea.

BTW - T-S household rodent elimination count:
Mice - one in roof - dead, poisoned, within 24 hours (too easy)
Rats on patio - one shot dead with air rifle, gave second one a new parting when it popped its head out of the rain gully and haven't seen it since....i'm waiting
Squirrels - two on bird peanut feeders in back garden. In easy reach of air rifle. Uneasy truce. As long as they don't cause damage they stay alive.....and they have now started destroying the peanut feeders.....
Carolyn's opinion - "oh, they are cute"
My opinion - vermin tree rats....watch this space

I'm keep seeing images of Dave sitting on his patio, in a rocking chair, playing a banjo 'Deliverance' style, shotgun by his side

I can see Dave strapped in like the old Jasper Carrot "mole" sketch. It's probably been mentioned before, but I can still see 'im with his kermet the frog hat on, twitching at the slightest breeze...

Sorry to stray off topic, but I'm sure when I was a kid there was a programme called...."Gentle Ben" strangely with a bear called Gentle Ben in it
Robski - could this be the programme you're thinking of ??

CHIARK - EXCELLENT MATE - I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THE MOLES!!!!!
Have caught two of those as well - alive - making bloody holes in my hard worked garden!!
Put a hose pipe down the freshest hole and turned it on full blast. Took about two hours but eventually the little sods couldn't hold their breath any longer and swam their way to the surface spluttering away
Put them in a bucket, drove then about two miles down the road and let them out in a layby (I hesitate to add it is all fields round here, it wasn't the hard shoulder of the M11). They are probably tunneling their way home as we speak!!!

Dave T-S,
If you fancy a bigger target please feel free to come over to my house and shoot the fox that ripped open all our rubbish bags last night
I don't condone cruelty to animals but at this moment in time I want it dead....
Guess whos got to pick up all the rubbish when they get home tonight...

STOP PRESS
Spotted a baby rat on the patio last night. Going to give it a chance to grow up so I don't feel guilty at shooting a defenceless baby (probably until Saturday, i.e. when I have the time to stalk it from the shrubbery ).
