Depends on whether she thinks Page 3 is degrading to women or not. Personally and this is obviously a male perspective, its not a terrible thing. The models get paid fairly well and I understand its a bit of an honour to appear on the Suns P3 as opposed to the Daily Sports.
If you go on holiday you will see people sunbathing topless, and some of them clearly (in the name of taste and decency) should n't be! I think if the girl is GENUINELY pretty (and P3 do operate a no silicon policy) and the majority of The Suns readership want it to stay then it should. Its only a bit of fun afterall
p.s. Didnt research show that looking at womens breasts is actually good for men, lowers risk of heart desease or something.

I would if we were allowed.
And it is up to parents to stop their kids getting hold of stuff they are not allowed to look at. In the oppinion of the adult.
Personally I would not mind my kids seeing breasts as alot are breast fed anyway. There for not only have they seen them but sucked them anyway.
When it comes to other printed matter it is either out of reach or stickered to be sold to certanin ages. Adult films are 18 or R18. R18 can only be sold in licensed Sex shops. Again it is up to the Adults to ensure this material doesn't come into the hands of minors.
As I say a beautiful woman is nice to look at regardless of clothes. In a lot of instances the type of clothes greatly enhance the look, and no I do not mean Nurses uniforms.
In Spain they have full frontal nudity in adverts on TV. And thats AM as awell as PM. They don't appear to have a watershed.

Do you really beleive it degrades women? I mean do the Chippendales or other Male strip shows degrade men? Do advets with Male torsos with 6 packs degrade men cos most dont have em. What about underwear boxes with some unknown mans package? I dont have a "great" body, but it doesnt upset me as i m comfortable with who I am. SO I dont feel threatened.
IMHO The models know what it is, theyre not being exploited. Same as Promotional Girls at F1, Car Shows etc arent. They didnt have to take the job.

How many of you have topless calendars at work, not many i guess.
I had to have a word with our suppliers as last years calendars were mostly landscapes and buildings.
They have come good this year nearly all firms have supplied topless. One firm "Tomac" have supplied a "Fluff and Stuff" calendar, I don't know how the pictures have passed the indecency laws. Good Show Lads.

I don't believe it degrades women. If a woman felt that then they wouldn't do it. It's called choice. I am not allowed Topless calendars because of Political Correctness. The women are allowed calendars of Brad Pitt etc with out his top on, so why can't I have pictures of women without their top on. Just because they have 2 bags of fat attached to their chest.
Women all during summer wear very revealing outfits. They are flaunting the bodies they have. If they are nice and they know it most show them off.
The current craze for tight lycra shorts and leggings. During the summer some of the women that have stood in front of me on my journeys on the train have left very little to the imagination. They surely can't be feeling degraded.
Exploitation and degradation IMO is when a person is made to do something against their wishes. If someone is forced to walk around naked then that is degrading to them. MAN OR WOMAN. However, should the individual enjoy walking around naked, being filmed, having pictures taken for publication and getting paid for it, then IMO this is not degrading or exploitation. They have decided they want to do it. Some get paid very handsomly for it aswell.
If I had the figure to be a male model then I may have done it. Instead of a six pack I have a keg or a couple of barrels.
IIRC At least one of the topshelf magazines is run by a WOMAN. In the Adult film world many of the top studios all have series created by WOMEN. Jill Kelly Productions, Cathy Barry (UK) Jewel D'Nyle. I could go on. If all these people thought it was degrading then they wouldn't do it. They enjoy what they do.
But I guess this is a subject we will probably never agree on.

It may be boring but hey, Im a sad old **** Agree to disagree
I do however agree with you regarding Siths ramblings aobut ****. P3 isnt even Soft ****. Let alone the enormous multi million Hard industry. HC **** is degrading because a) its pretty seedy and b) I have heard too many bad stories about it. Off on a tangeant, to me Sex is about 2 people in Love. Not just rogering away for the U.S.A. to make a quick buck (ahem)
IMHO THATS degrading to women, used as objects, abused, etc Who cars about their feelings etc, and FWIW I dont beleive all the crap from the "actresses" that they really enjoy it. Course they do Course they do

I watched something on TV a while back regarding the high UK teenage pregnency rate.
In Sweden unwanted teenage pregnancy is almost unheard of. The Swedish culture of being open about sex and **** means that youngsters have all the facts and they have an open environment to discuss anything they are not sure of. Because nothing is taboo they don't feel as though they need to rush into things and have all the info they need if they decide to.
The British way is to brush everything under the carpet, keep it all behind closed curtains and all that. If someone was kissing on TV my mother used to turn the TV over. No wonder kids feel they can't discuss it and we end up with the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe.

What part of the image is causing the issue? Is it the actual visual image, or the implied image that women just show off their breasts for the male populace and that is what is needed to succeed?
Sooner or later she will grow breasts herself. What about women advertising underwear in catalogues. As my parents have never got the Sun or Star etc I didn't see P3. I looked at the catalogues to look at women. As did most of the men on Scoobynet I should think (and don't say you didn't chaps!). Women in underwear work far better IMO than just a pair of naked breasts plopped on a page. P3 could be classified as clinical IMO. Underwear adds erotica to the image.
If you don't want your niece exposed to P3 then ask those people around her, family etc not to leave the paper lying around if they buy it. If it's in shops, just keep hold of her and not let her go off on her own.
I agree with protecting children for as long as is sensible, but there comes a time when you have to let them go. Eleven is probably to young I would agree.
When she is older she will be able to make an informed choice.
I am enjoying this discussion as Feminists just start to make alot of noise fluster then start screeming at you.
*(No I'm not suggesting you are a feminist)*

A friend of mine told me last week that his wife overheard their son talking to his school mate.
They had been discussing web sites at school with pictures of naked ladies on them.
Luke is 11 and his friend is 10. If this is the normal school discussions of 11 year olds I don't think page 3 is going to bother them much.
Kevin doesn't let Luke on the PC unsupervised.
His older son who is 18 managed to install a **** redialer on the family pc last year and Kev ended up with £180premium rate calls on his phone bill.

rr_ww - Ramblings indeed HCP and P3, all part of the Adult industry. And involves women. I'm sure people who don't like the intustry will always try to paint a bad picture. Those who enjoy it will paint a good picture. There is good and bad in everything.
I disagree with people who try to take advantage of women / other people regardless if it is HCP. Yes I have heard some of the stories, and if true, these people should be strung out and shot.

I don't see the big deal with it really, sure it's nice to look at but at the end of the day it's only flesh that all women have! To be honest I don't see women don't campaign to have a bloke on there too?
I don't think it's degrading either, like wise I wouldn't think twice about seeing a semi naked bloke in the paper... they're just doing a job like anyone else. Now if they were being forced, against their will to do it...
RE calenders, yes we have a "glamour" one at work and I have one at home too, no I'm not a sick pervert

My only point in all this is there isn't enough for women. All the womens magazines have more pictures of women in them than most mens!
Rich said to me the other day that i did have the Lacoste advert (which is nice yes) but thats the point its only one advert.
I dont dwell on page 3 but i dont have much against it (unless my confidence is low but thats another story) I just wish things were a little more equal.
Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places
Another point i'd like to make is i have nothing against porno magazines because thats what they are created for, i dont really like opening my car mags to find half naked girls everywhere though. It seems to me as if they are showing the women to be like the cars, nice model, nice bodywork..... etc like objects.
I find that a little degrading but as you say, these girls are getting paid loads to do this stuff and are agreeing to it so in that its OK.
We should be complaining about and trying to stop the darker side, where it isn't voluntary.

If you follow football then the Sports section in the Sun is a must read
Anyway back to the original question, do you think the Sun would offer the editors job to anyone with anti P3 views?
