Dont suppose anyone knows of any jobs going in IT in Suffolk/North Essex.
I am an AIX/NT systems Administrator, and due to travelling, my current place of work is making me a loss!!!
Any help would be appreciated, have tried jobserve, monster etc, but the agnency's seem to say excellent CV, will definitely be in touch shortly, and then I dont hear anything!
I am due to get married next year, so if I am making a loss just by travelling to/from work (and paying the bills), this is never gonna happen *sob*.
Any help would greatly be appreciated and i will be forever in your debt etc, etc.
Cheers!

Join the club..
In the same position, left a great well paid job in Wilmslow as six months worth of travelling had made it's mark at home..
Plenty agencies say "wow, great, all the skills and experience" then zip, nothing.
Makes you wonder sometimes.....
Unemployed and stressed of Sussex

Prior to my current job i was unemployed for 6 months due to redundancy, all the time agencies phoned me up, conversations went along the lines of:
"Great CV, weve got a small and upcoming IT company that are very interested in what youve got to offer"
> "Great, thanks a lot, what are the company like?"
"They are all very down-to-earth people, and the working environment is very flexible, we have submitted your CV, which was excellent, and will definitely get back to you on Friday!"
> "Thanks very much, i look forward to speaking to you on Friday"
"OK then Mr Dawes, Good Luck"
Does Friday never come to Job agencies?
I sympathise with anyone in IT who is out of work, I had to take the first job I could, just to stop myself falling into oblivion, now, after bills are being reduced, and the petrol is paid to and from work, i am left with nothing! But i dont see it as nothing I see it as hundreds of pounds which I duly spend!!!!
I desperately need a job on more money, closer to home!

The are some good companies in Cambridge around the IT business park. Or see where the ones are you want to work for. Always worth droping a cv in addressed to IT manager, never know?
Otherwise i'm afraid, if you want the cash it's The City.

Its not really the cash that i am after!
I am just after more cash than what I am on now (and 13.5K isnt good at all for an AIX systems Administrator)! Basically, half my wages go on travelling, so even if i got a job for the same money nearer Ipswich, I will notice a big difference!
Although, if a company was offereing to pay me stupid amounts of money, i suppose i could work for them

Don't know if this will help (and I now you've had some bad experiences with agencies), but these are the guys who recently placed me

My brother is a Unix contractor at BT labs (or whatever they call it now) I'll ask him what agencies they use.
If commuting is becoming too expensive by a banger as a second car. I travel from Ipswich to Cambridge every day (120 mile round trip) so bought an E reg 1.3 escort for £300 just to go to work in. It's slow as hell but does 350 miles on a £30 tank.

Mark, thanks very much, i think i will probably print my CV out, and write a covering letter explaining my circumstances, then just mail it to every IT company I hear of!
I havent got the money to buy an old banger (and i dont want to sell the scoob - even though it is only a 1.8GL).
I just want to save £90 a week in travelling costs!
