Anyone can let me know where I can order a set of these plates.

I was flashed on the way to work this morning by one of the portable camers being operated by the new keen breed of contractors that are now working on behalf of the police. Due to the increasing number of these nasty traps on my way to the office I wish to take "sensible" precautions.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The so-called anti-gatso number plates DO NOT WORK. If it was the case that they did work I think you-d find the company that produced them would be taken to court. If its "sensible precautions" you want to take then why not do the following;

1. Strategically leave road grime/dirt over 2 or 3 numbers/letters of your number plate - Gave it a quick wash officer, wasnt concentrating, sorry.

2. Slow down!!! Always the easiest.

This website is excellent and does a test of all sorts of stealth and evasion measures and shows which work, and more importantly which don't - like anti gatso number plates.

there are a lot of different types of anti-gatso number plate, some work and some don't.

the ones i use are anti flash and do blank out the plate even when photographed with a digital camera.

Use black electricians tape to change a number or letter.

Jonny,

As an experiment, could you take a picture of your plate in daylight, outside with a flash camera at a reasonable distance, just to see the results?

I just think that would be a more accurate test. If it works, I'm getting me a set

all gatsos use flash.

i will see if i can find the photos that i took at the right distance and hight.

i have never been flashed but that would be the ultimate test wouldn't it!

i will see if i can find the company that i got them from, can't remember off hand.

these plates work by the letters and numbers being made from the same reflective material as the backing.

Do you mean the digital cams, WWSD? You could try "losing" your front plate as most of them only take pictures of th front of the vehicle. Or buy a bike

Unhappy

A couple of years ago i tried 2 rear plates on motorbikes (no not at same time), the first was an anti flash which looked standard but the letters/numbers had a border around them (looked illuminous). When a photo was taken without flash (like digital cameras) the plate read as normal, when photo'd with flash the letters/numbers turned white so you could still see them??????? paid £27 for that!
The second wasn't a replacement plate but a sort of perspex sheet which had what looked like white sugar / glitter all over it. This turned the plate completely white when photo'd with flash but also looked standard when photo'd without flash

The problem with these types of plates is you think you'll get away with it after you've been flashed but when the photo labs get the pic back they can alter the pics brightness, contrast, etc and get the number back, you'll then get a bigger fine (and more) for perverting the cours of justice or whatever

i thought that they weren't allowed to alter/enhance the images?

Don't do it!

That's a very serious offence - you could go to jail for it as well as being fined up to (I think) £3000

Just lose the number plate completely. No points and a £20 fine. Leave a scrap of plastic and a screw there - "Jeez officer, how the hell did that happen?"

funny thing this, as per johnny gav's photo, when i take photos of my car with the digital camera sometimes the plates come up blank like that, but most of the time they are visible. the plates are just normal ones. seems to depend on the angle/flash.

Thanks for all the info - The contractors were out again today and all I can say is keep your eye's open as they are running a business and out to generate as much revenue as possible.

Borrowed a friends Snooper for this mornings trip in which gave a good warning.

Cheers.

I 'Know' someone with the 'Camera Shy number plates'....

Photo's were taken in the house, on the drive, down the street etc etc and the number plate looked BLANK!!!....

They Don't Work!!!!!....

The person got caught on a Gatso.........

Requested pictures..... received about 7 piccies....

First ones were the far away ones showing the time delay.

Number plate not visible (Blanked out)

Next few photo's were zoomed in and zoomed in....

The last photo looked liked it had been cut and pasted onto it's 'own sheet' and played with..

........... behold the registration....

They don't work
