Is it ok to turn off the bubbles over night?
I have the facility to wind down the snorkle on the water filter/pump thingy so it still circulates the water but doesnt blow bubbles as per usual....
Is this ok to do over night?
Cheers

I would imagine so POC
you got any other filters in there ?
I have an air stone, and a big filter, and sometimes I turn off the air stone, I have a set of taps attached so I can control the amount of bubbles too

The snorkel aerates the water if you have overstocked your tank and you knock it off, your fish will soon start 'gasping' if they need the extra air the snorkel put in the water.
I would turn it off for a few hours during the day first before leaving it off all night...

Oxegen is absorbed mostly through the surface of the water, therefore disturbing the surface (with an air stone or filter outlet) will increase the amount of oxegen that can be absorbed. In short, if you keep the surface moving and the tank is not stupidly over stocked you should be fine.

I used to keep my air pump hung on a spring in my wardrobe... made it a lot quieter.. you can get silent ones.. but your more bothered about the water noise
Put a lid on the tank... should keep it pretty quiet.. if not
Top tip though.. get a non return valve so if pump fails you dont get a nice syphon effect... Fish survived though... until dad saw his ceiling..

Warm water can't hold as much oxygen as cold water, so you may have a problem. However, if you have real plants in the tank and it's only lightly stocked you may get away with it. Don't blame me if your fish die though!

Can you not move the tank?
To be honest, it depends on the size of the tank, the number of fish, if you have any plants in there and how long you wish to turn the air off for.
You can get oxygenating tablets, which may be of help, but I'd leave the air on constantly, in all honesty as it's not really fair on the fish.
Overnight every now and then might be ok, but overnight every night might become detrimental to the fish and plant life. Don't forget that some diseases and parasites flourish in poorly-oxygenated tanks.
