Question

Anyone know of any UK based SMS Bulk Providers...

...i.e you send them a load of (several thousand?) short text messages and corresponding mobile phone nos and they despatch them over the airways for you at a few pence each.

This is for a corporate requirement, so don't need any freebie ones (SMSBoy etc - which I think has closed down now anyway). or tinpot solutions that stick a mobile phone on the back of a PC and send them one at a time - there would be a proper business relationship between the corporate and the provider.

I'm so amazed how hard they are to find, I'd set one up....if I knew how!!

I looked into this a while ago for a project at work that didn't progress beyond research.

Let me dig out some links or info at work tomorrow.

Cheers,

Chris.

Martin,

I've written programs that work in conjunction with our network management systems to notify of network problems via sms, pager and e-mail.

I found that vodafone and bt get very funny if 'large' amounts of sms message / pages are sent, so much so that they have simply stopped sending sms / pages, and we are not talking about thousands here.

Good luck in sorting something out... it may be worth talking to someone like Lumina (BT) and see if they can offer any advice.

ta,
Matt.

Interestingly, I too am looking for bulk SMS messaging at a decent rate. Total 3000 per day from 100+ mobiles. Also 1500+ out from a single source (pref via Internet).

Anyone any sources? Decent rates?

Hi there,

We can't use that one... we're a competitor!

We're currently looking into this at work, and have contacts in the industry, so I'll let you know what happens.

We've contacted Orange, Cellnet, Vodafone, one-2-one, and Value Telecom (Carphone Warehouse) so we'll let you know.

Some of these places require you to have a direct (possibly X.28) link to their message centre, others can go over the Internet. We're looking for a solution that goes over the Internet ideally so we don't need any dedicated comms.

Simon.
