Broadband - which company ?

I was looking into this a while ago myself, but unfortunatly after I managed to get a date for an instalation.
I phoned them up the day before to ask where my info pack was and was informed that because I lived 4.5Km away from my exchange that I could not have the service even though their website said that I could!
It was nice of them to inform me of this before I made arrangements to be at home that day.
Having looked at their site lately, they have a special offer of £49.99 for the instalation of home 500. Just try and confirm with them that you do indeed live within 4km of your exchange otherwise you could spend a day waiting in for nothing

BTOpenworld = £40 / month + £150 install + line rental, type ADSL.
Checked their site, they confirmed number was ok to install, got a letter yesterday telling me they've changed their minds.
Telewest BlueYonder = £33 / month + £50 install, no line rental, type CABLE
Cable modem vs. ADSL...
Cable 128kbps up / 512kbps down
ADSL 256kbps / 512kbps
