EAGLES!!! EAGLES!!!
After freezing my backside off at Selhurst Park last night (along with 26000 others) - it was well worth it to beat the mighty Liverpool (who, it must be said, at times looked very good, but when your front men can't score with an open goal in front of them (I think it was 3 times!!))....
The only downside (apart from letting in the sloppy goal in the last 15 mins) was the fact that Heskey and Owen are likely to be the front two for England!!
BIG job still to do at Anfield - but it was a great night

2 b Honest Chris......I reckon had smicer not scored that away goal near the end then palace would be going tru to the final..
However I fancy Liverpool to do it at anfield now since all they need is a 1-0
As a liverpool fan i must say it was the most frustrating game I've watched in a long time...hence 1 broken remote control & 1 broken fire guard
Looking foward to the 2nd leg though!!
Are you gonna travel up???
Niall

Naf - you had to be there mate!! For the first 20 mins it wasn't looking good. Liverpool played us off the park and they could have been 3-0 up and we would have been out of it - but it's a funny old game...

Have to admit Chris.....had heskey & owen taken those two chances then we probably would have won by 3 or 4 ...
But like you say its a funny old game!
Looking foward to the 2nd leg...
Liverpool badly need to win this cup to get things going again however what a fantastic buzz it would be for palace to be in Europe!!
Best of luck anyway!

We didn't concede goals at Leicester, or at Sunderland, you never know
How we didn't let 6 in last night beats me :
Morrison sort your hair out! LOL
Justin - not quite booked the hotel room in Cardiff

Yep I agree Justin - it's a little too early to be booking the trip down to Cardiff - but we live in hope
BTW if you're interested, I'm going to Donington on Saturday, if you're going and want a lift, let me know.
Cheers
Chris

Cheers for the offer mate but I'm working in Pheonix for 5 days as from Saturday - otherwise I'd have jumped on board!
Missing fleet and all, oh well
Catch up with you soon

Tough life Justin
Barge - yeah it is a little embarrassing having some dodgy old DJ chairing the supporters club - but we do our best to ignore him . About my location - if you mean 'why don't I support Sutton?', well I do like a team that wins (occasionally)

As is often said, a week is a long time in....football. Freezing my backside off (again) last night - shame the result didn't go in our favour. For 75% of the game, Palace played very well and deserved to be in the lead. Alas, it was not to be. Great atmosphere and I won't repeat some of the chants hurled at the Sunderland supporters, for fear of offending our northern chums (but they were very funny ). The only repeatable one was the chant of 'are you Owen in disguise?', when messrs Phillips and Quin had both missed sitters
Mind you, Sunderland did have the advantage of playing most of the match with 12 men. OK I'm biased, but the ref had an appalling game. He missed blatant pushes and fouls by both teams.
Down to earth again - Gillingham at the weekend ( )
Cheers
Chris
BTW To all Sunderland supporters. Just like to say that Don Hutchinson is a credit to all professional footballers and your club.....not. What an ar$ehole. Chris

You wouldn't believe Hutchinson last night. We'd just lost one of our players with a busted hamstring - the guy's in agony on the pitch and Hutchinson is trying to get him off the pitch!! Eventually the trainer and another player carry him off. So what does Hutchinson do? Help? Nah, he just picks up the trainer's bag and throws it towards the touchline, spraying the contents everywhere.
At this point the entire Holmesdale stand is ready to linch him. The day Hutchinson returns to Selhurst Park will be a day too early as far as most Palace fans are concerned.
Send him back to languish in the Millwall reserves if I had my way

Gutted!
Thats what happens when you start with 7 players - the back 4 didn't turn up Somehow I felt Liverpool would have beaten most teams the way they played last night.
Can Smicer shave off his dodgy beard now that he's scored?
Justin

Thanks Niall
Fair dos to Liverpool, they were superb. Our very inexperienced back 4 suffered big time and a Danny Murphy's goals were outstanding (especially the first). It would have made a big difference if we had had Fan Zi back in the team, but I think even he could not have stopped all of the goals. Smith was right to go there and think of attacking - to have sat back would have been even worse. Hope the guys don't get too depressed, they got a real lesson in how to play - I hope they learn from it.
Cheers
(A depressed, but not disheartened) Chris

Fan Zi impressed me in the first leg !
...he seems to have a lot of pace & was able to cover well
to be honest when I heard he wasn't playing I was happy
Must say though that lad Alan smith played at right full ( cant remember his name!) didn't seem to be happy at all in that position
His uncertainty seemed to affect the rest of the back four...
