Default My JDM Hawkeye STi

Well, Now I'm back to work and back off cloud 9 from picking the car up on Friday I thought it best to do abit of a thread to keep everything together and show any progress...

So here's my Decemeber 2005 JDM STI Twinscroll...It's had quite abit money thrown at it lately
So, This was the car on Friday when I arrived at the Subaru Specialist...

and then I lifted the bonnet...

Just kidding, that beauty belonged to this 900bhp beast!

Anyway, back to my car...
The spec is as follows
* Forged 2.0 block
* RCM LCM400 twinscroll turbo (also got the original in my garage)
* RCM Stainless-equal length manifolds
* RCM Uprated fuel pump... apparently the walbro ones are ****e in comparison?
* RCM Decat
* 850cc Power Enterprise injectors
* Rota Alloys (fooking HUGE offset and stretched 225/40/18 tyres, clearly for aesthetics not practicality)
* Alcatek ECU with Anti-lag, Launch Control and 2 maps (Vpower/1.5bar and 95ron/1bar boost) mapped by Andrew Carr.

So a pretty good base car I think :lol!:
Got home from the 300 mile trip, ears ringing from the exhaust and pockets alot lighter than 24 hours previously!!

Next morning I set about having my touch on it... first thing was to remove the soundsystem that had been put in using the highest grade wires I've ever seen... but then used ****e amp/sub?!!

All the doors have Fusion speakers and tweeters in with crossovers, but I've just rewired them back into the OEM wiring...gone are those days... plus I can bearly hear with that 'exhaust' haha

After the above wiring nightmare, I set about installing my ATI/Defi hood and gauges. you'll notice these are completely unbranded, which I LOVE... I hate seeing gauges with multi colours, bollcoks signs all over, when I look at a gauge, that's all I want to say... markers and a needle - By chance I found these ones on Ebay years ago with my classic impreza, but they were nowhere to be seen this time round :no: but after 3 hours (I kid you not) of trolling google/google images with god knows how many different words I eventually found them on a german website, no wonder they were good and accurate (mapped to 1.5bar)... german engineering *:farao: *:sunny: So I bought Oil Temp, Pressure and Boost (upto 3bar)

gave the car a clean, introduced my 9 year old to it...after calming down from a short show of 1.5bar in second gear with all four wheels struggling for traction on a private. perfectly safe road, he told me he can't wait to show his mates (yeah I'm THAT dad )
All I have to do now is hook up the oil gauges and i'm set.

Sent all the plate change documents on Friday when I picked the car up, in the hope that it would be sorted before the christmas shut down... here's hoping!! Had to wait 9 weeks in May when I put it on the CLS!!!
So here's my smallest (uk standard) legal plate... I could go down the tiny import plate and carry the .gov website print off stating imports are allowed it, but I'm just begging to be pulled with that AND the exhaust...and to be fair, I can't be arsed with the chew on!

Think I've put coilovers aisde, and looking at some Rota GTR's with a normal offset... wonder how much I could get for the current ones....guess I'll have to whip them off and find out exactly what offset they are first!

just awaiting my oil pressure remote kit so I can get the pressure gauge online...I had fitted the new sensor inplace of the OEM one, but the alternator was clipping the top of the sensor and oem belt wouldn't fit back on...I was going to get a smaller one and drop the aircon, but decided to keep it and do it 'properly'...but I'm impatient and hate incompetence....royal mail should have delivered it yesterday.......

On a lighter note... when I took my son to school this morning, we were greeted by a gang of kids at the gate shouting up the street 'anti lag...anti lag...anti lag' so I looked at my son and his smile was ear to ear looking at his mates and I got the 'ohhh go on dad, I've told everyone about the noise and the flames when you turn it on...pleeeeeease'....so of course I obliged, didn't get as many bad looks as I thought..... loved watching unsuspecting people diving for cover though thinking it was gunfire

added some labels (VERY temp measure) until I sort out a new box to put in the cig tray and then have black back with white writing, properly sized and spaced...couldn't cut straight whilst in the car and couldn't line up straight because current holes aren't in a line and couldn't get my fingers in properly... but as a temp measure it's ok...I ss'pose...

the car previously had soundsystem in, but as previously mentioned the fronts had fell off the + & - pins so I sorted that out last week, and decided I wasn't bothered about the missing rear speakers because...it's an impreza, who wants to listen to music with that sound track?!?! but this morning it was annoying me that I could hear the fronts working fine but NOTHING in the rear, previously having had silly amounts of audio in cars, my ears are quite well tuned and it was annoying the **** out of me so nipped into Halfrauds and bought some 5" 'triaxials' by Fli (Vibe).... for £17.99 and direct fit they are marvellous and now i've tweeked the stereo I have balance restored to my ears

Andrew Carr has said its a 400bhp+ car but unsure as to an exact figure due to love road mapping... I'll get it rolling roaded in the new year 👍😁
Cheers everyone

Just bought the titanium STI key from America and an ordinary key to use as a second spare, bought some LED waterproof strips to hide in the footwells and boot to attach to boot switch/interior circuit then I'm going to refurb the wheels as the previous owner liked kerbs... A lot.
Then look into suspension side of things

A lovely example. I'd consider mothballing it as the Hawk twin scrolls are probably going to be quite collectable in the future.

Edited to add; Why did you change the original manifold? I doubt any after market ones will give you better performance and in some cases you can lose performance.

Well...the last year was interesting, I took the Car to JGM Shootout Memorial, on my 5th run I heard a tapping from the engine and pulled over...yup, it was knocking on Cylinder 3!
It was sent to Andy Kindon in Durham to go for the 2.1 treatment, but when he took the engine apart, a piece of piston ring had came off and smashed up into the heads some how.... new blocks & heads required.... briliant - NOT!!! I also decided to refurb the wheels whilst I was there.

So the engine was rebuilt, ran in and taken back to Andy Forrest to be mapped again...WOW what a difference, soooo smooth and quiet ahahah
I then took a fancy to ABW arches.... had the oem arches grounf away and sealed properly to allow proper fitment of ABWs.... the car, in my eyes is perfect now.
Threw a HT Autos rear diffuser on too which finishes the back end off nicely I think.
I've since replaced the backbox with a 3" pipe with a 5" tip...loud is an understatement haha

Alass the car will be up for sale very soon, I see standard imports are going aroudn the 13k, I need to decide on a price for mine now.

Wasn't oil starvation... Just massive piston slap on cylinder 3 'one of those things' the builder said... Didn't dampen the blow though hahha engine was running fine, no evidence of anything going wrong. Poop.

I'm looking to import a cheap classic to ***** about on the track and buy an m5 v10 or a7 as my daily

Was going to buy RCM's Team Ice Backbox but didn't like how it came off to the side, so got Spanner Monkeys in Washington to fabricate the same idea - but straight exit... 3" all the way from the turbo now, to a 5" tip... I USED to go to the gym at 6:30am...I've had to change that to PM now!! thing is stupidly loud!
Oh and for reference, officer, the above clip is upto 70mph...I have an extremely short ratio gearbox. :-)
Here's a quick walk round the car, as it stands now... need to get new (unstretched) tyres on and get the camber taken out so the wheels sit more flush, now I have the room

Im possibly going down the Perrin TMIC and MD321v Twinscroll route to break the magic 500bhp marker, but not too sure yet

* Alcatek ECU with Anti-lag, Launch Control and 2 maps (Vpower/1.5bar and 95ron/1bar boost) mapped by Andrew Carr.

I didn't think a hawk can run Alcatek, due to fly by wire??

If it's a JDM twinscroll then I suspect it's a 2.0L and won't be fly by wire. I have a spec C (non fly by wire) intercooler from a hawkeye on my car.
