Installed CM2 last night and dusted off my Thrustmaster Sprint steering wheel.

I promptly found Windows 2000 doesn't support it properly (can't get the pedals to work ). Thrustmaster only list drivers for Win 9x - boo.

Dabs list a Logitech Wingman Formula Force Feedback wheel that has Windows 2000 support for the pricely sum of sixty pounds sterling.

Any fellow gamers care recommend to a wheel? Has to support Win 2000, can be USB or Game Port.

Is it worth paying for Force Feedback?

Cheers,

Chris.

Chris,

I can wholeheartedly recommend the MS Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback wheel + pedals.

Pedals have a good travel, and don't walk across the room when you try to use them.

The wheel is chunky, and has a good feel - and is pretty much the standard when it comes to compatibility.

Search round and you can get it for £40-50 odd

Cool

There's a Ferrari endorsed one (yes I know) that is meant to be pretty good.

I've got a new Logitech FF (USB) and am very happy with it.

The pedals are good (reasonable travel and weight), and the wheel itself seems quite robust. It has plenty of buttons on the wheel for various functions. The desk clamp is also good, although a few of my friends have managed to rip it straight from the desk when playing the original Colin McRae Rally!!!

The are only a few things I dislike - the shift paddles are a bit unsatisfying to use (no meat to them - just a simple click), and the plastic the wheel is made of is a bit hard (not like the nice Guillemot Ferrari one).

Cheers,

Christian

i've got a MS Force Feedback Steering Wheel and am very happy with it and would definitely recommend it. its fine on win 98 but its not USB and I dont know if they do a USB version even now ? (they did not when i bought it).

was about £90 but thats 12 months or more ago.

gotta have come down by now ?

never had any problems with it supporting any game with force feedback. friends with other types of wheels have but have usually found a patch to sort this out.

mate who also has just bought CM2 swears by his thrustmaster force feedback wheel which also has a gearlever ! he's had problems with some games, incl CM2 until he patched it last nite and now its fine.

see if u can see a few different ones / try them out down your local pc world ?

and yes, dont get a wheel if its not force feedback - pure and total waste of money.
