Just got myself a surround sound amp and when wired into the dvd player i cannot get it to play the sound in DTS. I have the dvd to play in dts and the amp just dont do anything. Its all connected up with a optical cable and as far as i can see its all set up correctly. Everything works correctly just in surround??
Any ideas??

I assume you are trying to play a disc that has been encoded in DTS? If so you may need to go to the set up menu on the disc and manually select DTS as a sound option

As above - plus the DVD player will need to support DTS or you get nothing. Is there a DTS logo on the front of the player?

Should be working then. Does the amp display that it's gone into DTS? To you get a DTS intro bit on the screen when you start the disc ?

Of the couple of DVDs i have that are DTS (Shrek and Fast & Furious) you actually have to select that you want to play them in DTS not 5.1 from the menu and then the Amp says its getting a DTS signal and you get the DTS trailer before the film starts.

Yep, DTS sounds just that bit better than Dolby Digital. And the trailers for DTS are usually loads better too...

DTS sounds warmer, as it's layed down in realtime. Not compress like DD.

I always switch where possible.
