I like the sidewinder FF steering wheel courtesy of bill gates' empire, but it seems to be enjoyed mainly by my car mad 2 year old and is currently attached to his toy chest lid - cos it doesn't fit on my my computer table!

whatever you buy, work out how it fastens to your desk!!!!

Hi Whizzer,
I can recommend the Saitek R4 Force Feedback wheel, I think it was about £140 18 months ago, might be cheaper now.
It uses the same feedback technology as the Microsoft wheel but in my opinion is nicer to use. Certainly adds another dimension to touring cars 2.

I have the out going Logitech Wingman Formula Force. Stuffed everything it was placed against. In mags and on the net.

Remember though that alot of the force feedback is determined by the quality and amount of effort put in by programmers.

I use the Microsoft wheel but not the FF as I don't think it's as quick when it comes to 'corrective action' on track!. As for everything else it is certainly the best I've had, i.e. feel, buttons, software, etc.

Another tip - sit in a deckchair aswell, just your typical B&Q 5 squider metal frame. The perfect driving position!!!!! Try it. You won't believe how much better it is.

Saitek R4. It also seems to be pretty strong too.

Whizzer - I can also recommend the Microsoft Force Feedback wheel (although I am not the biggest Bill gates fan). Good. well built wheel - I have had no problems after almost 1 year of ownership.

I have a Guillemot (Thrustmaster) Ferrari Force Feedback wheel, so that's what I'd recommend.

The Logitech one is also supposed to be good, as is the ACT Labs RS wheel.

... and for true "wind in your face action", set up a table fan pointing at you.

Yes I can imagine what the girlfriend will say when she sees me in a deck chair hand in hand with a steering wheel , pedals somehow afixed to end of the deckchair with surround sound speakers placed around me with a fan blowing at me balancing on a 20" monitor ! she thinks I'm bonkers already .

If she thinks you're bonkers already, experience the true wet weather phenomenon by doing the same in the shower...

i'e got the microsoft force feedback one.

tried a couple but liked it the best.

always seemed to do well in reviews i saw and works with all games i've ever tried.

i know there are 2 types of force feedback, the one microsoft use and another ! (cant remember whats its called) and a friend with this other type had the odd problem with some games - Colin McRae comes to mind ?

try a few out and pick whichever you prefer ?

cheers
