I encountered sxual harrassment, sexist comments and general abusive behaviour.

Result? I ended up going off sick partly through stress (or so my doctor told - but mainly because of a severe viral illness) and making a complaint.

If your internal procedures are anything like the ones of the company I used to work for then forget about complaining, it actually causes you more grief than before.

I am now looking at court preceedings against them............

sorry to give you the pessimistic view, but not every company has a perfect complaints procedure and most of the time it is actually management who are doing the bullying etc, etc. My experience is not a very good one. I shall take a lot of satisfaction in seeing them pay.

Unhappy

I've encountered some rather offensive attitudes at my work. To cut a long story short, I've been the recipient of some abusive comments - namely, being called a:-

neo-natzi fascist without any professional work ethics

Just because I realise I can't beat the system (so I play the system @ it's own game, provide what it wants, and afterwards, revert to my normal system)

I am somewhat ******* fuming over this , as I pride myself on being VERY professional @ my job (check out my profile for more details).

The criticism comes from peers who are twice my age (29), so I can't help but think that there is a degree of jealousy, but this is taking the p1ss...

What should I do - take it further and nail them to the wall?

Beat **** out of 'em?

Leave it alone?

Advice please

Dan

ps the work place in question is an FE college

the grievence isn't with management (this time!) - it's with peers.

I am a VERY imposing personality (when I want to be ), so I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning

Could go either way......

My other thought was that, hopefully I'm on the promotion ladder.... I could 'file' this incident, and wait for the coming-day when I'm their boss.......

But then again, I'd like to think I'm above that.....

The only saving grace today was that afterwards, I went to see the scan of my unborn child

Kinda puts it all into perspective again.

Given that you are obviously 14.5 years old, don't you think you should maybe go back to school and stop annoying the grown ups?

So am I. Unfortunately in a sole male working environment, an ambitious female is not an accepted workmate.

My grievance was with both management and my peers. As I was the only female - the rule seemed to be for the lads to stick together.

With it being my word against theirs - they supported each other and denied everything. Made me sick.

I then realised what a bitch the workplace could be and how sometimes it is best to just walk away.

If you think you can fight it then do it and best of luck to you.

Is it possible you could give an explanation of what lead to you being called a 'neo-natzi fascist'?
Just so I can decide who I wish to direct my sympathy towards you understand!

Try not to take it too heart, give as good as you get and file it away for later use. I saw the same attitude in my workplace, full of older blokes who have been there 10 years plus and used to doing things their way, a younger guy comes along and shakes things up, management notice, young guy becomes target of older guys career frustration, gets a bit heated, young guy gets promotions and goes places and reflects on the bitter and twisted old guys still in the same job now muttering I should be in that job, I deserve it, I have more experience . You get the drift

Andrew - totally understand!!!

Going through an inspection process at the moment. Management have requested a load of paperwork. I have done the paperwork, etc. The others haven't. You can see where I going on this one.

I'm being referred to as this "person" because I'm apparently going along with a system, rather than fight it......

As far as I'm concerned, the boss sez to do a certain thing. I do it. That's what I'm paid for. NOT to fight the system.

Anyways, I think I'm going to "file" it for future use

Nice one peeps

You will never beat them, so join them.
They will always 5uck you over. Never ever reveal your true political colours or opinions at work - its a big mistake.

Best posture to adopt is one of being disinterested in politics, and saying "its all bollocks they are all the same". You will then be left alone.

If things get tough bring a sexual harrassment charge against on of them. That makes them **** themselves, even if they are cleared into on their employment record.

I adopt the posture of being a mmiddle of the road conservative liberal with some empathy for the labour party. Othertimes I pretend to be to the right of Ghengis Khan, but without any political affiliations. That works too.

Dan, you're doing a good job with enthusiasm and also doing the 'orid paperwork that everyone has to do. I know, I've visited your place.

You've got real world practical experience which they don't have and I'd suggest that they are simpy jealous. I guess that it's not that they're older than you, they're simply lazy and not "in to" their job like you are.

Maybe they should all go to Sand**ll and you could get a few more enthusiasts in there. After all, nothing inspires students more than a teacher that is enthusiastic about their subject.

If you need any help I'll do anything that I can, eg, get the MPG to do a seminar there, get some top producers in for workshops etc? Don't let 'em grind you down, have self confidence and blow them out of the water.

Cheers mate!

:-)
