Belgian police officers, who are battling because of a lack of vehicles, now have permission to use the impounded luxury cars of gangsters.

Algemeen Dagblad reports that the policemen may use the cars if the owner has been arrested and car impounded.

The officers had complained that the gangsters’ cars, usually Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz models, were sometimes kept at the pound for years.

The cars will be used for undercover operations and patrols. The rule only applies to the vehicles of criminals involved in organised crime.
