After popping down to my local Sketchleys last week and then arguing that my leather jacket was a normal jacket and not 3/4 length I was given a price of £37.99 and a wait of 3 weeks to get it cleaned. Of course I told em where to stick it.

Has anyone else got a leather jacket dry cleaned and what sort of price was it? Wouldnt mind paying £15-£20 but nearly £40 is daylight robbery not to mention it taking 3 weeks. Id rather put the £40 towards another jacket.

Simon.

Question

It aint cheap but bearing in mind a decent leather jacket is £200 upwards.

btw whats dirty, the inside?..cant you clean the actual leather with a damp cloth and then put leather cream on it?

Not an expert btw.

I went through the same thing. Local dry cleaners wanted £35 for a dry clean. In the end I put it through the washing machine (gentle wash), left it to dry for a week, put some leather conditing cream on it - good as new! Just be aware of possible shrinkage - my one was slightly big for me - now it fits perfectly!

That's about what I paid for a jacket to be cleaned (and also took about 3 weeks). It was dark brown and a bit too big. It's now slightly shrunken, so the size is good. It's also faded - looks like it's a couple of years older than it really is. The T&Cs do say these could/will happen, so it shouldn't be a surprise. Looks better in faded/work brown if you ask me!

The other option is to contact me offline, as I can get some very good deals.

A member of my family works in the trade, and can make/get leather, suede and sheepskin products.

Its not really dirty as such. Just looks faded. Think I will try the damp cloth and leather cream option. Are thre diff cremes for each type of leather. Think its marlboro leather if that makes any diff?

Cheers for the input.

I use a cream that feeds the leather. It helps keep it soft.
