I have one.

got it from Jessops the camera people, you may get it cheaper on line somewhere, I paid £898

its the bolx imho, in standard res. pictures are very very clear, zoom is good, movies are good, in high res they are fantastic, its not a pocket camera.

down loading is very easy, camera has all maner of settings that I dont understand or use.

Thanks for that barge, just what I wanted to hear.

I've been comparing it with similar offerings from Fuji, Canon and Minolta, it seems to have all the features.

In Shutter priority mode, have you any idea what the longest shutter speed you can set. It says 30 seconds but not sure if this is available in manual mode only or in combination with Shutter priority??

Cheers

Sounds like you want to play with your camera.... Fuji or the Olympus would be my first pick but at those prices how about a cannon Slr Digi second hand from a GOOD dealer??

Luke,

Looked at the FujiFilm FinePix S602Z but only a 3 second minimum shutter speed with Shutter priority (15 seconds in manual).

Where do u recommend for second hand digital SLR's (like the spec of the EOS-D30 and newer EOS-D60.

Anyone here got experience of those cameras?? Any pro-photographers????

cheers

Stu

Frisby, your called Stuart as well then, this could get confusing.

looks like you can only keep the shutter open for 30 seconds in manual mode, it also has nightvision mode, & star burst mode where it take 3 shots everytime you take a picture, but they are a fraction of a second apart.

If you get it recomend you get a big memory stick at the same time, it come with a 32mb one, when you look at it in the shop as to try it, most place will give some BS about they dont let you try as it means they will need to charge the battery, Sony normaly send the cameras out with some charge left in it.

Thumbs up

Stu,

I have an EOS D30 - what would you like to know?

You can get s/h ones from eBay, or you could try Park Cameras or Mifsuds as they sometimes get them in. I'd certainly recommend a used D30 over a new D60 in value terms - either camera will take superb images that blow up to A4 and beyond.

Ignore the pixel count - it's the photographer's technique and the quality of the lens that affects the sharpness of the final image. Cameras like the Nikon 5700 that stick a 5 megapixel sensor behind a tiny lens are just playing a marketing game. If you want to know what a sharp image looks like, I'll send you a shot taken using a tripod mounted D30 with an 'L' series lens.

That said, I've heard that a lot of people are happy with their Sonys, but I see no point in buying a camera that's crippled by a proprietary storage card format, when you could be using higher capacity, faster and cheaper Compact Flash cards instead.

Andy.
