I would guess, Bike helmits are generally built lighter and more aerodynamic.
I also think bike helmits are subject to more stringent testing.
Can anyone confim this???
BB
PS a BoB the Builder hard hat on a hyabusa works well.

The Bike Lids have to have a minimum width of opening on the full faces - EG Simpson Starwars from the 80's weren't legal because of this. The car lids used in open cars also have a lip along its lower edge to stop the wind catching underneath and lifting it at speed. Schumackers (excuse the spelling)lid (Schuberth) has contours in the back of it to smooth the airflow into the air intake just behind his head which offers an extra 4bhp at speed. All lids sold should now should be marked with ECE2205 for Europe or the Snell markings for the States (but I can't remember what it is).

Err yes, One of them was on display at the NEC on the Headlynz stall who are their official importers butI don't know about the price tag, Tha company is big in Germany and the US and have some real innovations in their range but don't push hard here (I have a Schuberth Concept lid which is why I took an interest(Top Lid BTW))www.schuberth.de. The Roof Boxers look the biz but are rated as open faced lids due to the chinpiece being made of old sweet wrappers and chewing gum .

Bike lids are much cheaper because they don'y carry VAT and are made by the thousand, not by the handfull that sell in the motorsport market.
There is usually more choice on sizes with bike helmets eg Arai motosport lids are small, medium and large - that's it. Also, most motorsport lids are illegal on the road because the visor aperture is too small, as mentioned above. This makes the helmet slightly stronger, but peripheral vision is vital for bikers so they get the wider visor.
And bike lids come in a vast range of colours and designs. Motorsport lids are usually plain white, ready for your £400 custom paint job
In other words, buy a bike helmet
Cheers,
Richard.
