What to do in Hong Kong?
#1
I'm in Hong Kong for 5 nights next week for a telecomms exhibition.
Never been before. Can anyone recommend the best things and trips to do, see and visit during my free time out there? Any good restaurants and bars?
And finally anyone else going to be out there and fancy a beer cos I'm going to be Billy-no-mates
Cheers
Marc

Hello
If you are into computer stuff, have a look at the Golden Arcade at tube stop Sham-shui-po.
There is the night market at Temple Street.
Loads of (tourist) bars in Kowloon around Nathan road.
It's snake and turtle season: Go to a snake shop, have some soup and watch them take the pancreas out (you know you want to!!).
Steve.

Jumbo restaurant was utter crap when I used to live there - admittedly it was over 10 years ago. Find a restaurant in Central called The Cleveland - much better.

On a two day stopover to Oz recently we did:
Up the Peak - has to be done, both during the day, and at night. Railway up, walk down is fun.
Aberdeen Harbour boat trip will take you all around Jumbo, you can alight there and eat if you want, but there are much better places to eat. Go on one of the little bum-boats run by the old women, not a big boat. You think you're going to be ripped-off when they all come up to you, but it's actually much better than the big boats. If you go round the back of Jumbo and see the kitchens etc. you might not want to eat there anyway ;-)
Stanley Markets - get the bus over from the city, upstairs on the d-decker is fun in itself.
Also the Marco Polo hotel is v. expensive but has a bar in the top, so in the evening, if you've the front to wander in, go up in the lift (I guess it's allowed, but I felt suspect ;-)), and you have a fab. view over the harbour whilst enjoying a drink. Expensive, but they have a happy hour
We also took the Star Ferry over to Kowloon and the new territories, which is great.
The night markets are also good, loads of museums if you're into that.
Enjoy!
