<smiling as I write this but would really like to know mode on>
OK, so they're a pair of 60 quid Base black leather (uppers and lowers) shoes, good condition, plenty of sole left. Have been fine but recently the left one has started squeaking when I walk along. Sounds ridiculous and people actually look round to see who it is.
It's at the front of the shoe so I've been walking on the heel and off to one side. Not only does it look like I have a shorter leg but it can't be doing my back any good.
Don't want to buy a new pair nor do I want to douse them in 3-in-1 oil. Any ideas?

PS. Excuse the mistake in the thread title. Was worrying about my shoe at the time.

Thats right. Blame the shoes. Bet you haven't checked your toes yet!
Alternatively, try treating them with dubbing or something similar. Might make the leather a bit more supple.

If the leather is dark, Use Neatsfoot oil on it. This is the stuff which is used on Saddles and horse riding tack to make it supple. A can of it is a couple of quid from a saddlery shop. Paint it on with a small brush and leave it overnight. It makes shyte quality leather look good. It also waterproofs as well but will darken the leather.

Just trying to analyse the problem a bit more here....(it's not a horse shoe is it?
Anyway, are you sure it's the shoe and not your foot?
Could you walk around with just the right shoe on for a while and let us know if the squeak is still there?
Also, to eliminate any future questions from me on this line of enquiry, could you also walk around with just your left shoe on, these sqeeks have an annoying habit of not coming from where you first thought!
Finally, could you walk around with no shoes on at all?
Armed with this information I'm sure we'll be able to affer more assistance with your affliction

phd - I used to have a pair of boots that did a similar thing. Seemed to come from which ever boot I was wearing when testing as above. Spent months oiling them, pissing on them, etc etc etc. Doctor eventually diagnosed tinitus
