Starting to get me down, been lookin for 6 mths .Recent history..LGV 1 Driver 2 yrs, Transport Supervisor 3 years(in hindsight should never 'ave jacked this job),self employed Courier 1.5 years, currently lgv 1 driving for an agency but lookin to get back into logistics/planning type of job. Have been for a few interviews recently , t'port manager type jobs, find I'm against young guys (I'm 35)just out of uni/college....they must be gettin offered these jobs, because it aint me ,with no driving Experience ,let alone running a t'port dept. Seems Hands on ,Been there done it goes for **** all now adays.
Went to an Essessment day last week ,the job was Transport Line Manager for Asda 's. 5 1/2 hours of self righteous , head up the **** Pish, role playing exercises , silly games, not much however to do with Transport/Distribution etc.
Rant mode off sorry guys...seems gettin back to Scooby ownership is still but a far off dream (never mind the friggin mortgage)

Unemployable..........not at all.I used to work for a transport company and we took on all ages of people.People with practical experience are always in demand. Its not like logistics is a dying industry, and you're age,...just about right i'd say.
The only other point i'd say is most companys have these sort of tests.Basically you'd better get used to them.In my opinion there quite fun anyway, and however much you may not value them, you've gotta do them to get a job.Basically there designed to find out what "type" of person you are.If you approach them with a "bad" attitude(am not saying you do btw)then you may struggle.
Its a means to an end.
Anyway, good luck........hope you find something soon.

Have you searched the web for the specialist logistics agencies ? I know of about about 15 that cover first line management level.
I don't know your educational (rather than experience) background, but it sounds as though you could do with making contact with the ones who cover Scotland and then getting some advice on marketing you.
I'm looking again at getting another Logistics management job myself, and for what its worth, I have similar feelings towards psychometric tests.
Have you also thought about writing speculatively to the main logistics players - and asking them if they do not recruit themselves, which agencies do they use for supervisory and first line management roles ?
As usual, nothing to lose.

Psych tests are complete bollox.
They are only used by personnel depts, so that when the muppet that they employed turns out to be less use than a leaky bag of spent w@nk, then they can hold up the test results in one pathetic little paw, and plead "but the tests said he/she would be really good"
You may guess I have a problem with Inhuman Resources departments
