A couple of questions which i've wondered for a while. Anyone who knows, feel free to answer.

I've heard temporary speed limits at roadworks are only legally binding on motorways. Is this true?

Are temporary (road work) traffic lights legally binding. Not sure i'd want to be waiting for a 10M section of roadworks at 2am with no traffic coming other way...

It depends on the type of sign.
If it's like normal speed signs i.e. black on white with a red circular border, then the highway authority has put in force a temporary TRO (traffic regulation order).
If they're black on white with a black rectangular border (i think), then they're just advisory speed limits.
We have started using TROs at roadworks where there is a percieved danger to workers from speeding traffic. (usually where the carriageway has been reduced in width at lane closures and temp traffic signals.
All traffic signals temporary or permanent are legal.

Hope this helps you out.

Regards

Daz
