Aren't a couple of the members of PWEI now playing with Bentley Rhythm Ace? I heard it from a friend so i'm not sure if it's fact or not.

edited for spelling..

Cool

Now they had some classic songs, anyone know where they went?

Last thing I heard was the PWEI/Prodigy track.

Apparently so. Got this from a Bentley's site..

The Bentleys- Mike Stokes (a.k.a Michael Barrywhoosh) and Richard March (a.k.a. Barry Island) were born in Birmingham in late '95. Mike was an unemployed road layer and lighting whiz, and Richard was a bartender and bass player from Pop Will Eat Itself. They met at a party where Mike was playing some psychedelic pop tunes. "I was playing records and he really loved them. Then we nearly kissed...but we didn't, so we made records instead. We were lonely".

Can you believe they were on "Buzzcock's" line-up the other week! Made me feel old... "This is the day" still one of the great albums.

The Poppies Are Crap

Beaver Patrol -- classic. Also some great later stuff like Auslander ...

Yep, Richard's with BRA, Clint is doing film soundtracks (he did Pi and Darren Aaronovski's second film), Fuzz did a couple of solo singles, Graham went off and did his solo ambient thing, and not heard any news from Adam.

I still wear my "Pepsi" PWEI t-shirt on special occasions -- 'cos I'm sad

Fantastic band. I so nearly almost had the artwork from their seminal early work, "beaver patrol", transferred to the side of my first car, which was a black chevette, just for the giggles...

Clint did some work on soundtracks and is now pretty well respected in the industry - most recently, some of his work has been used on the LOTR TTT trailers I believe... Some collaboration with NIN was on the cards, too, but dunno what came of that. Google for "clint mansell" and you'll find things, including clint at the controls...

Graham Crab (occasional drummer, occasional keyboard, occasional guitar) went on to do solo stuff in the name of "Golden Claw Musics" (geddit)

As mentioned, Rich formed B.R.A, and their stuff is pretty damn good.

Saw them loads of times, never failed to impress, including a marvellous gig in St Austell with EMF. PWEI - a cracking fun band that really knew how to have a laugh.

Nick.

How do you keep your wheels spinnin' when the beaver's grinnin'?

And one of my all-time fave lyrics:

"Candy spinner, candy girl is candy-appley grey
Psychocandy candy man eats candy every day
Candy this and candy that, whenever I'm out walking
I wish I could go through the day without some candy talking
What's so f*ck*ng good, what's so f*ck*ng good about candy?"

Saw them a few times when I was at uni in Brum (also they used to DJ at Tressines) and they rawked. Ironically, it was 'Wise Up Sucker' that was playing on my cd player when I binned the Cossy. The CD still works tho' !!

Unhappy

Ademid -- unfortunately Poppies stuff isn't worth that much anymore. In 94 / 95 some of the rarer stuff (pic discs etc) were fetching £20+ but now prices are very low. On ebay, most of the vinyl seems to go for a fiver tops. Even the early Chapter 22 stuff doesn't get much above this. Shame

Carter USM ... isn't it ... marvellous!

An ashtray for his daddy's ****
His skinny sister's blistered skin
R-S-P-C everything!"

ooooh, you're taking me back ...

Sheriff Fatman started out in business
as a granny farmer
he was infamous for fifteen minutes
and he appeared in Panorama
Then he somehow got himself on board
The Starship Enterprise Allowance Scheme
With a Prince of Wales award
for pushing valium and amphetamines
