A word of warning - there are some cable boxes that use IRDA not "normal" IR. most xteneders won't work - I'll try and find some details.
Deano
Edit This Product claims to work with the problem boxes aswell......

sorry NICKBG, your thread reminded me ....
have NTL cable box downstairs and we have a video network courtesy of the previous houseowner which means we can watch it in every room in the house - only snag is, you have to leg downstairs (or autotune) to change channel.
anyone used a remote repeater or can recommend one so we can control the NTL box from any room in the house?
cheers

I have an RF enabled multi-remote in the bedroom which transmits to a small IR emitter in the lounge. Controls sky very well - but unfortunately it stopped manufacture years ago.
Check the IR page on Lets Automate. You can get anything from simple IR Recievrs/Emitters to to expensive hard-wired complete IR distribution systems.

POWERMID XL PM10E
Also get the
Single Infrared emitter with 10 foot cable (this plugs in the back of the
receiver and the infrared eye can be attached directly over the infrared
receiver on the satellite box)

Here you go lads. This is the daddy of them all. Quite simply the best (and most expensive) RF disribution, modulation and control system on the market.
ALL-IN-TWO KIT:
The 5558 distributes 4 sources, such as DVD, surveillance camera, VCR and satellite, to 8 TVs with IR control to 3 TVs. The system can be expanded to include IR control at all 8 TVs with the purchase of additional emitters and targets.
Included in the 5557 Kits:
• 4 Channels of modulation
(5545)
• 8 Rooms of distribution
(DA-8200HHR or DA-8200BID)
• 3 Rooms with IR interface, expandable to 8 Rooms
(2133)
• IR control of 4 video sources
(2172’s)
These retail at about £1100. If you are interested mail me offline. The modulators are so good that we set them up at trade fairs runnning a DVD on 100m of co-ax vs the same DVD on a standard scart and ask people to tell us which ones which. Causes all sorts of confusion.
