I've just bought a new Sony tv, video and dvd player which has been set up for me..but I dont like the way its been installed as you can only have the dvd or video working at once, which is done via scart leads.
I know you cant watch 2 things at the same time, but If I want to record something from say Sky or normal tv and watch a dvd whilst its recording I cant do it. Any ideas?
Thanks Nath

Sky box -> video -> TV
DVD -> TV
Even better, if you have two scart connectors on the back of the Sky box and 3 scarts on your tv do:
Sky box -> video -> TV
Sky box -> TV
DVD -> TV
It really just depends on how many scart connectors are on your tv!

Thanks
I've just checked to see whats what...
Cable box (analogue not digital), nowhere to put a scart lead
TV, 2 sockets
Video, has 2 but ones coloured and the others black
Dvd, one socket
I've also got a scart lead 5 socket adaptor but I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing :dunce:
Thanks Nath

Should be -
Cable box aerial into video
Video aerial into TV
Video Scart injto TV
DVD Scart into TV
Tune a TV channel to the Cable
Tune a video channel to the cable
Video & DVD should automatically switch the TV to them when you use them
The Video probably has one scart that is in/out and one that is just out - so with this setup you can do either.
You can now record cable, but you will not be able to record DVD.

That sounds spot-on if you don't have a scart on your cable box (might be worth an upgrade to digital though!).
You can't record the DVD to video whatever the connections unless you have a hack on the DVD player to remove the macrovision copy protection

You should be able to replace the DVD to TV connection with the 5 scart adaptor at the back of the TV. Then connect the DVD, Playstation and security camera to the 5 scart adaptor. This is how I have my Playstation/GameCube/XBOX connected.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Just a point to remember
Use scart 1 on the Tv for the DVD
Use scart 2 on the Tv for the video
I'm assuming that the TV and vcr are new. If you use scart 2 then the Smartlink function will work and make recording/setting up much easier
