Why on here do people always put the model year of their car - even when they have no idea what the MY stands for.

I'm always looking in the forsale bit and people don't seem to understand the difference between model year and year of registration.

feel better now, thanks for reading!!!!!

Because that tells the potential purchaser what specification you are likely to see...

As in an MY99 has subtle differences and improvements over an MY98, which was facelifted over a MY97 but an MY00 only has different alloys and colour-coded mirrors (and a worse ECU) etc etc.

Yes, it is perfectly possible to buy an MY99 in 2000 & so on.

It helps if you're after technical advice as there are differences between my MY93 and a MY03

PTMW - exactly, each model year has some changes, i'm referring to people making there cars look older by saying it's a MY98 when it is in fact a MY99, but the fact it was registered in 98 they put MY98 Good for the buyer suppose but I personally find it annoying.

But I'm not being so pedantic today so it's not bothering me now.

Matt.

It is an offense to falsely describe something for sale that is not what it purports to be. You would have legal redress for damages from someone who sold you a car as a MY99 (year of reg) when in fact it was an MY98 registered in 1999.

So, sellers, bear that in mind when you put an advert together...
