mot. 14 day re test ??
#1
took the car in for the mot.. failed. rear bushes had gone..
bloke in garage said come back within 14 days for the re test and its free.. shopped about.the mot garage was the cheapest. rang up on the 7th day to book it in for the bushes to be replaced. he said he was up to his eye ***** and could only fit me in the next week.
no probs i thought. until when i turned up today he said i was 1 day over .. its now the 15th day after the original mot.
the car will have to be re tested .. another £25 ..( even though i rang him to book in my car 7 days after the orig. mot)
i dont know were i stand here.. have i got a case to argue tomorrow when i pick up my car.
has anyone been down this road??

I had something similar with a 7 day free retest on my 200sx. I needed a new damper but I couldn't get them delivered until after the 7 days were up so i'd have to pay for the retest. Tried arguing with the MOT station with no luck (as they couldn't get me a replacement within 7 days for me either).
End result was me taking the car to another garage... I wasn't going to pay the same garage twice as I know they wouldn't bother retesting the car. I wasn't going to pay them another 25 quid for them to just write out a pass cert.
Incidentally, the second garage didn't even spot the damper but i replaced them all anyway.

The rules are simple. If you remove the vehicle from the testing station, it needs to be retested in full. Most testing stations offer an unofficial free retest. They are supposed to test the vehicle again in full. Most rearly do, hence they offer a free retest.
This does not apply for 20 ish faults, (can't remeber what they are, simple things like lights) where you can come back the next day and are entitled to an official free retest.
