I'm after a bit of help. I'm making a simple DC->DC PSU for ATX-style PCs and need help determining which components to match with the bits that I'm using, namely Maxim MAX787 for 5A of 5V, 788 for 5A of 3.3V, and the slightly more complicated bit is using a National LM2587T-12 as a flyback regulator with a coilcraft coil...
I've used the Switches Made Simple software from National, which shows where to put schottkey and transient suppression diodes, but I have no clue on what to use.
Also, anyone recommend any PCB schematics, plus PCB layout stuff, and possibly PCB manufacturing for low volume?
Cheers,
Nick.

David, it's great, but when it comes to laying PCBs out, etc, I don't really want to abuse his time by saying, "ah, would you just er verify that this won't blow up, lay it out properly and make the PCB?"
I've downloaded a shedload of layout software and nothing seems to do what I want it to do, but there again I'm rather a novice.
I have a schematic, some bits of which need verification by someone who understands when to use a particular type of Schottky diode as it all leaves me cold
If you're up for a challenge, I'll wheel it over to ya

Cheers Matt, but it needs to run from 8-16V
David, I've sketched out on paper, I gave up trying to use one of the PCB tools I downloaded last night, plus Visio didn't have the symbols I wanted. I'll update now and wheel it across
