...or is this "Scoobynet Plus" signature thing really pretentious and unnecessary?

Not too fussed about it being on the left-hand side, under the name, but having it as the signature as well is a little much. IMHO.

It's fine if you're paying. You can have fairy lights on yer logo too.

Can we all have one?

Cool

Perhaps the answer would be to have the sig only show up for those who are Scoobynet Plus members. So they can spot each other, but the rest of us who don't care don't need to see the silly logos.

One other thing - the 'submit' button seems to have disappeared in the 'Edit Profile' screen. I think it's buggered.

When Scoobyshop goes live, plus members will be able to add their own signature to the bottom of every post. The one you're seeing here is the default one.

Isn't it belabouring the point slightly, though? I mean, we can read the name of the poster AND the fact that they are a Scoobynet Plus Member in the left-hand side details....why therefore, does it need to be repeated as a signature in every post?

I can understand it for the Muppets, what with our short attention span and everything...ooh look - a sock...but it is a wee bit unnecessary.

And....ahh-hah...after Neil's comment.

Which means that I'll never have a signature... Not owning a Scooby and all, so will have no need to enter the shop...

Ho-well....

Angry

More to the point, will we be able to hide other members' profiles as part of our own user options?

I damned-well hope so, otherwise this board will just end up like all the other sh*te BBSes where it takes 20 minutes to download each thread 'cos all the idiots participating decide that it'll be kewl to include a 150kb image of their car/house/cat/****/whatever as part of their signature. Mice

I've had a look at some of the stuff in the shop, and you don't need to own a scooby to make it worth while. Also the scoobynet plus thingy at the bottom of every post Can be removed/change to whatever I like(within reason)

I'm told the signatures will be limited in size, and inapropriate ones will lead to either the post being vaped, and the user told to change it or their signature will be changed for them(probably to something less complementary )

Exclamation

MarkO, on that point i agree 100% with you. Totally.

Mods - please take this viewpoint into consideration. PLEASE don't make Scoobynet just like every other "look at mine every flippin thread" bbs.

Has anyone actually told you they WANT this "enhancement", or is it just a way of making the non-participants feel inferior, and bully them into signing up??

Signatures are unnecessary and complete pap. Decrete logo by username more than enough.

Tel

Its a feature Simon put in, because a lot people asked for it. There are other features for SN plus members coming on line like
Time Travel
Superpowers
and free pine fresh christmas trees to hang in the car.

Yup, this 'plus member' nonsense is a load of old bollocks.

I wonder if it'll be possible to get the card but not have the pompous bit displayed on your posts.

LOL. Makes me laugh that in 'General' Simon has already asked people to stop using the letters 'cos it's generating too much bandwidth.

Duh!!!!

LOL. Very good. Also, did you know that if you rearrange the letters of Scoobynet Plus Member, and take some letters away, and add a few letters, you get "Stoopid annoying idea that detracts from thread contents and wastes everyone's bandwidth"?

Question

Neil, if you don't mind me asking, who exactly asked specifically for this feature?

What useful purpose does it really serve?

Has this been thought through properly, or is it a knee-jerk reaction on how to best advertise Scoobynet's new toy??

MarkO, Couldn't agree more. There's enough problems trying to open pages in the evening between 9 and 11 without loads of pointless, useless, space wasting, time wasting, distracting sigs at the botton of each post.

Some of us (ie. me) are accessing this from work with a 28k dial up... last thing i need is for it to go any slower.

Marty.

Yup, I agree, I stopped using www.teamlexus.co.uk because of their Gold Member (yes, really) crap. Every post included some reason or other why you should sign up as a Gold Member, it was more common than "but you'd lose him on the twisties" is on here.

Total waste of time IMHO (of course )

In fact, me being me, it makes me less likely to use the shop as it's makes it into some kind of tw@tish statement.
