Question

Is the 'Dim' character the same guy that does "Daziel and Pasco"??

Sure looks like him 30 years younger

Question

I bought the DVD (which i have not seen yet) and it is 131 minutes long. The TV version (on NOW) is (according to the listings) two and a half hours long.

Am i missing something?

Thumbs down

Crap film, totally hyped up 'cos of Kubrick pulling it. It's nothing special. Never understood what all the fuss is/was about.

The most controversial thing about the movie being on TV is if finding somebody who doesn't use it as an excuse to boast that they saw a pirate copy years ago despite it being banned.

Agree with MarkO....watched it last night for the very first time & have to say that wasn't that impressed.
A little wierd....a little disturbing but to be honest a lot less than many modern films.
Kubrick is a master of hyping his own films beyond their capabilities.

LOL. That's pretty much it. The basis for the story is that 5 guys go on a rampage, beating people up, stealing stuff, and raping women. The 2nd half of the film is about their 'rehabilitation' and the draconian measures used by society to attempt to control them.

I won't get too worried though. Your description of "5 gimps in a car" is pretty accurate. There are an infinite number of better films out there that would be worth investing the time/effort in watching.

Definitely hasn't stood the test of time.. Although in its day it was very shocking and I believe the rape scene was edited substantially..

Kubrick didn't hype the film.. what would be the point he'd withdrawn it? He was shocked by the so called copycat gang rapes and resultant media coverage..

These "cult" films are always crap IMHO - watched a bit of it last night and it was just boring and stupid. Doesn't stir emotions, has little point to make, and is a waste of film.
