BuRR is a bobby, so I guess he knows.
Radar detectors and laser detectors have serious flaws.
GPS speed camera site detectors are best (Road Angel for me £360-ish) coupled to a laser jammer/blinder (Snooper summat I think, £250 but needs careful fitting for optimum efficiency).
Check out www.blackspot.com
No connection with 'em, etc etc. Just good service and advice.

Me and a few people in my office are interested in purchasing the radar dectectors and I was wondering whether anyone had previous experience of these items (particularly the Snooper S5) and whether you could reccommend a shop for bulk purchase.
Probably looking to purchase 10+ units so I'm looking for the
'BEST DEAL'
I'd appreciate Loads of feedback....
I've emailed a few shops on the web and the best price so far is £265 per unit.
I'm sure that can be beaten!!!!!!!!
Cheers
Phil

I've got an SD815i
Haven't been able to use it for the last 2 years as I had a clifford alarm in the car, which makes the snooper beep like a beepy thing having a beeping fit.
TBH, the only thing it will stop is mobile gatso's and radar guns. You won't get any warning from a laser gun (at least until it's too late)

I've got the S5. Came to this one after much deliberation and research. Reviews I read were on a par with the bell and i didnt fancy payin the extra 60 quid to get cheesy voice warnings rather than beeps.
I've no complaints with it. Ask away if yer've got any questions...

No experience of the valentine but the reviews said the S5 was at least as good. Bear in mind that the valentine is for the US market and is angled to the left (away from UK drivers)....

Just sold a brand new Valentine one for £385.
Best detection range by far. I bought 2 units in the States and kept the other one. Will be going back in November, so I might be able to bring a couple more back with me.

got a snooper S815i - totally crap, beeps all the time, mates Bell 550 is MUCH better - far less false alarms, over a 4 mile journey the Snooper goes off 4 times, the Bell once (all false alarms, the bells once was at automatic doors).

The S5 does automatic doors too and the new generation of tractors (ones that use radar to measure sizes of fields, so I'm told).
When it false alarms, there are always sources close, so its not a false alarm as such, just a valid k-band transmission from some other device than a speed trap...

From testing a few of these, my suggested setup would be a GPS fixed site warning system (Geodesy / Blue i / Road Angel) complemented by a mobile laser jammer.
The jammers work I know

Yep, agreed about sources, just the Bell 550 over the same route gives many less false alarms, the problem I have is I'm either panicking and slowing down far too much or potentially ignoring radar warnings, to be honest I often switch mine off...

I have the blinder jammer, and I know Shunty has the LE810 (I think that's the model)
Both were VERY effective against the Pro-Laser speed gun, however we've not been able to effectively test West Yorkshire's other type of short-range laser/radar. (btw - the Bel550 doesn't pick up this second type of laser)
I would suggest that any GPS-based "reporter" is only as good as its communication with satellites and the accuracy of its camera location database.
Remember, the BEL K-band detectors (and equivalent models from other manufacturers) don't detect SPECS, Truvelo (?) or those new hidey-hole cameras.

Here you can see where I have my Blinder fixed:
As you can see, they're not too well hidden , however they're VERY effective. I'm thnking of mounting them behind the grill, however I'm not sure how good the cloaking effect will be.
Maybe an excuse for another testing day??
Anyway, you can also see my BEL550 in the bottom right corner of my windscreen.

had a early snooper about 11years ago in me van ,picked up the auto doors at tesco,s and temp traffic lights ,got fed up with false alarms so stopped using it , then got caught
