Planning on surprising the missus on Monday and going to Alton Towers. We will be travelling down on Saturday to watch the Ascar finals at Rockingham on sunday.

As Alton Towers isn't too far away (relative to us) I thought it would be a nice treat. Only thing is we won't have much money so does anyone know any good VFM B&Bs within about 20 miles of Alton Towers (preferably south)?

I used one of the ones on the main road through the town of alton itself and it was clean, friendly, pleasant and cheap. Went to a few of the pubs nearby and they all seemed to cater for B&B. Everyone of then looked nice... really don't think you can go wrong in Alton.
