V cute pups, and cute when they grow up, but, and I'm NOT having a go, please do some research into the breed before buying one. I only say this as I've read a little on them and know they are very hard work and you need lots of time to look after them (very long walks, etc...)
Before we got out Weimaraner we did a LOT of research (websites, books, info from Weim club GB) so we knew what we were letting ourselves in for. Weimaraners are very, very cute dogs (well, IMHO ) and thus people thing "awww, how cute, let's get one" not knowing that they crave attention, are VERY destructive and have a hell of a lot of energy, and thus require long, long walks! It is worth the effort though, as maggie was ever so cute and a very loyal (as in wants to be with you all the time, and as close as possible!) dog.
Hope I don't sound rude, or up myself, just trying to be helpful

Someone in this area was selling Alsatian/Husky cross pups last summer. Alsky? Huskatian?
Then I saw one in town. How cute? Mostly like an Alsatian, carried it's tail differently, but had BLUE EYES!!!! Amazing.
I was so taken with it that I went to speak to it and it's owner, a very pretty young lady(!!!!)
Luckily she didn't think I was coming on to her, she said loads of people spoke to her about the pup. She'd paid £80 for it, after having looked at them out of interest, she bought it 'cos it was sooo cute.

Probably the best thing to do is talk to Breeders and current owners of Huskies and see what they have to say - what the pros and cons are.
I would imagine that they would need a lot of space and a thumping amount of exercise...

If you keep an eye out for DOGS TODAY magazine, they have a doglopedia in the back, with characteristics of the breeds and telephone numbers of people you can talk to. We used to have a couple of huskies on the books, beautiful looking animals but soooooooooo much energy!! Like one of those Gummi Bears on Red bull!

Serious note here now guys.
Huskeys often get stolen as they are worth a lot of money. Before my mother-out-law got her German Shepherd, she looked into a huskey and was told that they were difficult because you really have to watch them all the time!

Mice, am with you on the 'awwww so cute' thing. Weimaraners had been used a lot in adverts, plus Watchdog used them as their 'mascot' so had major tv (over)exposure, and did lead to many people getting pups cos they are cute, then finding out that weims may be cute but are a handful. Suzy always said that if she was to breed from Maggie (her weimy) she would vette the owners very carefully.
I would *love* and I do mean this, a weimy, but I, though it may be hard to believe, am sensible enough to know I don't have the time to look after such a hound, and it would be unfair on the pup.
ooh, one other thing, see if there is a Huskey rescue programme, there was a weimy one and we did consider a rescue weimy.

Went to Canada skiing, did a day dog-sledding. Got a big talk about huskies, the different types, etc. Impressive.
Note that a husky is bred to pull. Our weimaraner rips our arms out of our shoulders, regularly (v. messy it is too ) and it's bred to retrieve. Imagine what one who is bred to pull can do??
Seems in Lisbon huskies are the latest fashion accessory. Poor sods designed to work in -20C, can you imagine them in a country where it hits 35C for a month in the summer? Disgraceful.
