Anyone know of any clearing houses (?) that are able to supply merchant services to allow credit card payments to be taken over the phone i.e customer not present?
Preferably not someone who requires you have been trading for 12 months...

Have you tried barclays? I think they would do it if you supplied a business plan etc.
Some of the net based transaction people have a web based console for doing phone payments.

Try CardSave on 08700 100 778 (Maybe Mon - Fri number)
www.cardsave.net
Good firm. Low charges (much better than the banks). Heaps of other benefits. Not sure about trading for less than 12 months though.
Mention my name (D Lock & Associates) as I get a bottle on the house... David

Many places will, but be prepared for 100% chargeback with no possibility of dispute.
If at all possible, and especially if you're doing high value, pay extra MSC and get cover against chargebacks.
