Someone mentioned here about stopping cheques when they have been cashed???

I read a thread about stopping cheques a while ago and someone said you can stop a cheque even after it's been cashed? Is this right, I don't see how but if it's possible I need to do it.

Yes it is possible. You ring your bank as to why u want the money back. They then issue a request to the cashing bank asking for it back. Simple as that Whether you get your money back or not is dependent on the circumstances (amount, date cashed) and whether or not the cashing bank will be able to refund the money. You might get charged for the priviledge though.

These do need to be exceptional circumstances and banks aren't really in the habit of doing it.
Good luck.
If something's gone sour, you may find you need small claims as the bank's legal involvement ends when the cheque is processed.

You get the cheque pulled back as a "late return". I have managed to do it after one had cleared in the past, but it was a case of fraud, and as said it has to be exceptional circumstances - the police may have to be involved before you can convince the bank to do it.

Have also managed to do it after many arguments with the bank.
